I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The 12-piece bucket of ribs was cold and had an unpleasant smell, so we ended up having to throw it away. The 50-piece bucket of chicken was soggy, overcooked, and excessively salty. The only bright spots were the macaroni salad and the spicy sauce, which have been consistently good over the years. It's disheartening to see the quality of the food decline, especially since I've been a loyal customer for 30 years. It's unfortunate that the Riverhead location is now the only one left. My family won't be returning after spending over $100 on such a disappointing meal.
We were let down by our experience at this restaurant. They had run out of wings, and the chicken we received was dry and underseasoned. The sweet potato pie was grainy and too heavily spiced with cinnamon. We ordered baked macaroni but were served macaroni salad instead. Additionally, the customer service left much to be desired, with some rather surprising comments made. On the positive side, the macaroni salad and cornbread were tasty. However, overall, we won't be coming back to this restaurant.
Absolutely terrible! The chicken was stale and had feathers. The mac and cheese tasted like water and was as soft as mashed potatoes—this is definitely not soul food, I repeat, NOT soul food. The ribs lacked flavor and barely had any sauce. And let's talk about the greens—they're literally to die for! The only good thing I got from there was the bag I used to carry the food; it was quite sturdy. They should really consider changing their name to "Flavorless"!
Got two 10 piece wings ribs and a half chicken. Chicken was too salty. Not Like the spicy's I remembered. Only side available was macaroni salad. Corn bread was trash. Ribs and shrimps were good.

Tastes good chicken was crispy the way I like it collard greens to much onions but I plucked them out the cook was friendly answering my questions about sauce I knew nothing about good food.

Fish sandwich was served on a stale roll. Best to stick to the fried chicken in spicy sauce. Edible not enjoyable.
Tasty, unfussy, and budget friendly eats. Workers are friendly and fast. Come for the entrees, stay for the sides.
