Submarina California Subs La Mesa

I really love this restaurant! They serve squaw bread, which is a total game changer. They also ask you which cheese you'd prefer, but they do it in a way that suggests what pairs best with your sandwich. For example, they might say, "Is Swiss cheese okay?" and you can either accept it or politely decline. I appreciate this approach because I often feel unsure about what cheese goes well with dishes like tuna or club sandwiches. Plus, the entrance has a foot-operated door handle, which is a nice touch!

Why would you go anywhere else? You can taste the freshness of each ingredient in every bite you take. I love the option of sliced bread vs roll. The ATC sandwich is my favorite. Try their squaw bread, it is absolutely delicious. I also like that I can order on the phone during my lunch break and go directly to the register to pay for my sandwich and save a lot of time. I do have to mention that the staff is always very nice and polite. Love you SUBMARINA!

I visited the restaurant for the first time today, and I had heard a lot about how friendly the staff are. Unfortunately, the woman who took my order was rather unfriendly. On the other hand, the new girl who handed me my drink was incredibly sweet. It seems like the first staff member might have been having a bad day.

Everything about this place is top-notch! They slice your meats on the spot, and your meal is larger than most. The price seems higher in comparison to Subway but not to others like Jersey Mike's. I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The customer service was outstanding, and I enjoyed some excellent sandwiches along with a delicious salad. The staff truly made my evening special. It was the perfect dinner for someone on the go! Thank you again!

How can you not love Submarina? This one has the best service, friendliest staff, and they are pros at getting the line moving. Yes, Submarina is a chain, but the staff here (many who have been here for years) make it feel like a small town deli.

I can't believe a sandwich shop would run out of bread! They closed two hours early because they had none left. Jersey Mike's never has this issue; they always have bread available!
