My old friend and I try and find new places to meet for lunch occasionally. This time we thought we would try the intriguing sounding Sun and Slipper in the village of Marple. A week beforehand I checked the website for the menus, saw they did a good range of sandwiches as well as a la carte and phoned to reserve a table. I explained on the phone that we were probably only coming for sandwiches but we just wanted to be sure of a table on a Saturday lunchtime. That was all fine he said, we'll expect you at 12.30. We came to try the Sun and Slipper on the 11/05/23 after we were recommended by somebody and wow it did not disappoint. If we could give this more than 5 stars we would. As soon as we entered the pub we were welcomed by a lovely woman that gave us a gorgeous window seat which was just perfect. As soon as we opened the menu we were amazed. So many options for starters and mains! Being in the industry ourselves as chefs, we really admired the time and thought put into the menu ensuring there was something for everyone! We called on spec and managed to get a table upstairs as downstairs was full. We both had the prawn cocktail which was very nice but I think a little overpriced at £8.95 it definitely was no better than the ones we have had at a £1 or £1.50 cheaper. Our main course was lamb which was absolutely lovely very tender and plenty of it, the vegetables cabbage, cauliflower and carrots were cooked to perfection as were the roast and new potatoes we were given a large jug of excellent gravy. Drinks were not over priced and the staff were really friendly, they were a little slow to start with but they were very busy downstairs

Visited here with my 2 young sons last night. The staff were really friendly. Everything, including the drinks, was really reasonably priced. The food was served swiftly and was high quality. I was particularly impressed with the children's portions which were quality and a great size. My wife wasn't with us but she is vegetarian, and unlike the previous reviewer we understand that sometimes gravy is not vegetarian. I did see that the sun and slipper do cater for vegetarians and would bring my wife with us in the future. Highly recommended. Reserva una mesa ahora

My wife I went to the Sun Slipper for lunch for the first time and what a wonderful place this pub is! A very warm friendly welcome by the staff, the restaurant was nicely laid out and the food was absolutely first rate! If you get the chance book a table, this is one of the best country pubs in Worcestershire!

Superb Sunday roast in a cosy environment. Staff were very professional worked so hard to make it a grear first visit we will definitely go again. Food was piping hot, high quality. We had 3 different meats between us lots of veg, excellent gravy lovely desserts. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Was treated to a takeaway from The Sun and Slipper last Sunday, was most disappointed. The beef was extremely tough, the veg was over cooked and rather tasteless and the gravy was pure bisto, topped off with a sponge disguised as a Yorkshire Pudding. Will...

Just moved to the area and went in with the dog last Friday for a spot of lunch. Wide selection of freshly cooked and delicious food. Really friendly people (Wendy, the landlady and other customers). Glad this is our new local. Reserva una mesa ahora

Lovely place, very well renovated light airy inside great food and well kept beers so what’s not to like?? Well worth a visit
