"I had stopped going to this restaurant for a bit and I paid a visit last week. It is the same old story. They are not able to plan in the customers and serve them on time. I waited 30 minutes for a take-away sushi costing over 50 Euros which I had ordered in advance and which should have been ready waiting for me at the appointed time. Instead I was sitting around in the restaurant waiting twiddling my tums. That is worth a two star."

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. The restaurant is run by an authentic Japanse and it shows. Everything has been thought out to the last detaill, from assuring customers fish is safe to information about ingredients and additives used but also the service is truly Japanse: very polite. The restaurant is also very flexible to customers wanting other things not on the menu: For example sashimi is not a fixed item but it is possible to order for example dorade, salmon and tuna as a moriawase. The dishes are all made fresh and by hand. The rice within the sushi is the right temperature (and not too cold) and the fish is fresh and top quality. I was suprised to find such an excellent little sushi bar in Koblenz which is on a par with the quality you get in Düsseldorf (home to the largest Japanese community in Germany). The guy who owns the restaurant made a point of remembering our names the second time we visited.

Friendly and authentic food and service by Japanese chef. Reliable top quality Sushi. Ignore the reviews regarding the make up of the location. As it should be the food is important. That is just perfect. Only a few place I know are better but then a multiple of the price. Best value for money ever - real affordable. Freshly prepaired and reasonably served by the chef. You can clearly tell that conviction goes in to his work.come and visit - also from far it is worth the trip. Bzgl. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist diese Restaurant nicht zu übertreffen. Nur zu empfehlen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Auch mit Freunden.

Sushi Bar pirates has been recently opened in the Koblenz area. Unlike most 'japanese' restaurants in Koblenz and indeed in the region, it is actually staffed, owned and run by a Japanese husband and wife team. From atmosphere, the restaurant has been established in what was a bar, and still has the original bar and even bowling alley in the cellar. The restaurant is however very modern / chique in appearance which suits the cuisine very well.We visited on a Sunday night, and we tried several of the recommended sushi platters on the Menu. The fish is of excellent quality and as good as we've eaten even in Duesseldorf or Frankfurt. We also had edamame as a starter, and miso soup with our meals. All in all, it costed about 15 euros a head.We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to eat japanese in the Rheinland-Pfalz or Nord-Rhein Westfalen areas.

We wanted to spend part of our Easter week-end visiting Koblenz and Trier and since we had our sushi loving kids with us (6 and 10), we decided to try this restaurant to please them. The owner is Japanese and despite our non-existant level of Japanese and very poor level of German, he was extremely nice and welcoming. He made sure all was perfect and took very good care of us. The meal was just great, super fresh and delicious, the green tea ice cream is lovely and at the end, right before we left, we even got a present: an opera song by Mr. Sumida himself! We visited many castles and saw great things during that week-end, but the kids keep repeating that their favorites things were the Playmobil exposition at the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, and Sushi Bar Pirates.Arigato Mr. Sumida, that was awesome!
