we have long been customers of sy thai in birmingham, I personally have been literally here for decades. a week ago our family ordered Thai execution, and my wife's curry noodle dish was dry, dry, dry and tasteless. have I been mentioning? it was literally only noodles, two pieces of twirl and hardly one of these absolutely tasteless sauces. it was really disappointing, because thai is a pretty big cheating for her and she was really excited. we called to let them know, and the guy on the phone seemed less to worry about. Carrier-out the worst. you have certain expectations when placing an extradition order. an expectation is the food item listed in the respective menu item, which corresponds to the actual ordered dinner dinner. that didn't happen to my dinner. I ordered vegetable curry with salmon. I ordered this exact article several times before this review. what surprised me was that during this attempt to produce a meal, they were absolutely failed, which I expected to pay. This place isn't it for me. I used to LOVEEEE going to the one in downtown Detroit on my lunch breaks. But this location has never been good. The breaded chicken in the sesame chicken is in way too big of chunks, not bite sized whatsoever. But somehow it's always either dry and jerky-like over cooked, or it's undercooked and super gross. We decided to try ordering that dish but without meat. We asked for the usual broccoli, carrots and pineapple but please add assorted veggies INSTEAD OF the chicken. I ordered three appetizers and two curries. The three appetizers were the chicken wings, satay and lettuce wraps. The satay was excellent, chicken wings were tasty but the portion for the price was disappointing and the lettuce wraps were beyond disappointing. I got the filling for the wraps in a box which tasted like pure salt and the lettuce was a 1/4 piece of an iceberg lettuce which was more of a wedge that broke into 1 inch pieces of lettuce instead of wraps….they should have called it a salad and not ‘wraps’. The two curries were ok and had like five small pieces of chicken/beef and a whole of vegetables…not worth the value! Overall would probably not recommend this place except if you... Food is typically good and cheap, but the service is terrible. As soon as the carryout line starts to accumulate during lunch rush, the manager, Sylvie, ducks into the back and disappears for 40 minutes at a time. From what I can tell over my past few visits, there is one waitress that works there and has trouble keeping up with the rush as well. I understand there's a labor shortage, but this restaurant needs to raise their wages and get more people on staff.

I hate to write this review, because Sy Thai Cafe has been the go to Thai restaurant in Birmingham area. That has not been the case recently. The last few orders have been lacking in taste. The Pad Thai was bland and very little chicken. The picture of Sesame Chicken looks delicious on their menu, but in actuality it was greasy fried breaded chicken with very little vegetables that tasted bad.

Love this place's food! The restaurant is a great place to relax and meet different people. The only thing I would say is that they are pretty short staffed, and so the food takes a while to come out sometimes.

amazing eating at a great price! I ate here for lunch of a day and the service always amazing and eating came out quickly. the server was very attentive to my tabular needs

outstanding Thai food (after my standards as a white woman of European ancestors). large vegan options. also good seasoning variations. this place is a stone for us.
