Been coming here for years always amazing food and good take away, but today I was extremely disappointed in the service I got in tanon. I ordered one of my favourites the bento box, waited much longer than anyone else at my table only for it to come luke warm almost cold send it back and they bring it back obviously just been put in the microwave and half my chicken teriyaki gone even tho I had eaten any all I have ate was one of the dumplings. Again send it back saying half my chicken has Gone and you have obvs just heated this up in the microwave. Third time lucky it comes back and was okay didn’t give me another dumpling out of the 2 and I was disappointed with the quality of the meal wh...
Some of the food was very good some of the food was terrible, with the pork on one dish not being pink and jelly textured on the inside. We were not offered a new dish yet they had still taken the previous dish away when the food was not finished. The sweet chilli sauce was watery and tasted of fish and tomato paste. The soup that comes with the bento box tasted of oily water. Very small portions (either starter size or for a 7 year old) and costing over £10 is way too pricey. Most of the service was good except for our waitress who would not help us with the poor food quality. It’s a shame to see my once favourite restaurant in St Andrews go downhill so I won’t be returning sadly.
Found this place by chance, when the Indian we booked into online had actually closed down…so we followed the relocation directions to Tanon…and so glad we did! The food was amazing! I had sweet corn fritters to start followed by tofu green curry, my husband had prawn toast followed by chicken catsu curry, with a side of Thai prawn crackers…couldn’t fault the food…it was outstanding, along with a nice relaxed atmosphere, fantastic friendly and fast service…we wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend…so glad the Indian was closed, what a find!!!
I was delighted that Tanon reopened in Alexandra Place as a 'pop-up ' after the original site on Market Street closed due to a fire. I suspect they 'll be staying in the new premises as it probably offers 3 times the covers of the old one. Food is as good as ever and very reasonable priced when you compare to other restaurants in St Andrews. Especially for takeaway. They no longer take bookings but you should have no problem getting in unless there 's a major golf event on.

The restaurant has delicious food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. The red curry, spring rolls, and ramen soup are all excellent choices. Make sure to try the Thai iced tea, a unique drink that is rare to find in St Andrews.
The takeout food was cold, and there was not enough food in the box. The rice was even worse. It was a waste of 29 pounds. I will not be returning and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Tanon is a wonderful experience. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is relaxed. A return visit to St Andrews is definitely necessary in order to try more dishes.
Food was average. It’s on the cheaper end for Thai food so reasonably priced for what it was. Not really many options in St Andrews so if you’re looking for Thai, would still recommend

First time visit since covid never realised if had moved to St Mary's place once we had found it the food was fantastic service good also
Stopped in for a quick lunch and found that the food was excellent. Service did not dissapoint either.
