There is no doubt that this establishment is worthy of a higher rating however I must be harsh due to a lack of attention to food detail.
The staff were professional and attentive with a bright friendly greeting and quick to take drinks order and provide menu.
On recommendation from the waitress I chose the Roast Suckling Pig. Unfortunately, I had to send it back to the chef as the meat was cold in the middle. The waitress was quick to convey apologies and a new dish was prepared.
Could not fault. Absolutely magnificent dish. I just wish I could have had it right first up!
The wine list was very good offering a broad selection at very affordable prices.

There were a dozen of us having an after meeting dinner at this hotel, all of us for the first time.The menu choice was large with all the usual staples plus a few extras like tempura oysters [ all the oysters could be had in servings of 3 as well as the normal dozen or half dozen.]We had a variety of meals, duck [delicious] rib eye steaks and eye fillets , red snapper , pasta with squid ink and a beef pie - no one was complaining.the service was very good and the wine choices were extensive both by the glass and carafe
Food is ok, but we went there to watch the football only to have about a dozen of the most pompous people you can meet have the tv tuned into the rugby and despite objecting as we were watching the other they changed it for these upstarts.The worst part is not one watched the event anyway.This really is a pompous establishment for those who think they are something.Stay away from the place if you are a normal person.
Have being spruiking this joint for years since Nic and the crew had turned it into a little gem.That was until last time - entre's and mains were poor at best - no flavour at all. Had the scotch quail eggs followed by pork. Just so so disappointing and won't be back until the kitchen staff are changed, I hear Nic is concentrating on a gid in the city and maybe this is why The Alliance has dropped the ball. Pity.

In Brisbane for work and saw this on TA which is about 500 metres hotel. Bistro is lovely and staff we're not concerned that I wa on my own and set a lovely table. Beautiful food and the staff looked after me really well.
Pretty good service and the food is very nice. I had a rib fillet with mushroom sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly and the caramelized shallots were a nice accompaniment to the steak.
Love this place. Dined here a couple of times. A gastro pub with loads of charm. Although not a perfect pub, they make up for with their well curated menu.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service at this establishment. I had a very tender steak here which I enjoyed.

Great meal. Much better than your average pub fare. Steaks were great and the service at the hotel was excellent.
Busy and seemed a little understaffed but overall the food was really good. Not an issue as a single diner.
