I've driven past The Arkle on many occasions on the way to Dorking but never stopped until now and I'm glad we did. Bank Holidays are odd beasts where it it can be really busy during the day then absolutely dead in the evening and so it proved here. A quiet restaurant can lead to poor service as staff relax too much after a hard day but not so at The Arkle. We were well looked after and everything arrived promptly. The decor is halfway between up-market pub and restaurant with different areas that make it an interesting space to eat in. The menu is varied with something for everyone. Great trio roast at good price point. Disappointing that the pub didn’t have our booking even though it was confirmed through OpenTable twice apparently happens a lot there. Would have been a disaster if they couldn’t have squeezed us in as we had travelled an hour to get there. Best to book direct with the pub itself.

Had a lovely evening and although there were several large parties in the restaurant we were not disturbed. The service was a little distracted but they were extremely friendly and eager to accomodate

Considering there were some large party bookings that evening the staff were very attentive and the food was served promptly.
