The pub wasn’t particularly busy but it took a good 20 minutes before I got up went to the bar are ordered my own. Food took about 50 mins from arriving which again I felt a little slow. Started came without olives to which the waiter said you will have to ask for a discount when you pay, we mentioned this at the end and a different waitress said we haven’t had them all day! So why not tell us that when we ordered! Wife’s roasted celeriac was the size of a starter which for £16 was disappointing. Despite the lack of customers when we arrived, the service was slow, even though there were plenty of servers available. The food took a while to arrive and unfortunately, it was not up to par. I ordered gammon with eggs and fries, but the gammon and eggs were oily and the fries were overcooked. We decided to add an Eton Mess with coffee to our order, but the coffee took a long time to be served. By the time the coffee arrived, we had already finished it before the Eton Mess was finally brought out. We refused to accept the dessert after the lengthy delay, which the server attributed to the apprentice chef. We paid for our meal, but were not happy with the experience and did not leave a tip....
The renovated Asthon restaurant is pleasant, however, the chairs are so stained that it gives a negative impression and makes the entire place appear unclean. Every chair I saw was in a similar condition. The food is average, but the roast dinner was disappointing with tough beef and a strange bread sauce lacking breadcrumbs and traditional flavors, resembling more of a milk with a random green herb. In a previous visit, the Yorkshire puddings were so hard that fresh ones had to be requested. The desserts took over 30 minutes to be served, by which time the accompanying coffees were already finished and we were ready to leave. On a positive note, the staff is friendly and eager to assist.
Soup was cold when arrived at the table, also no veg or potatoes included in the meals and they weren't offered as extras, we had to ask what was included in our meals and then add extras that would normally be included. eg chips with a burger, potatoes and veg with the vegan celeriac steak.

Food was warm. Only 2 pots of mayo for 5.people. I was expecting more for the price of the food. £15 service charge!. Steaks came out then had to wait a good 5 minutes for the test of the food so we could all eat together. Lovely setting, though, and I love the decor.
hadn't been to your restaurant before but was recommended by a friend. Went today with my sister in law for her birthday but was disappointed. We both had the gammon which was quite tough to chew and a lot of the chips had been overcooked and impossible to eat
Good vibes. Good atmosphere. Wonderful food. Service very friendly but orders were a bit late. We had an apology for the manager. We'll be happy to come back to tThe Ashton
Good honest food, nice environment. Very busy whilst we there but the waitresses were still very attentive.
