We visited the Beach Café at the Waves on a sunny Sunday afternoon in April for a drink and rest after walking to Reculver and back. The café is conveniently located at the western end of the promenade. We had travelled to Minnis Bay by car and there also a good allocation of free car parking available on the promenade itself an in addition a pay display carpark should the free spaces be unavailable. Been before and always enjoyed a snack or lunch at Waves.This visit with friends was very disappointing.No menus run out of paper!)Made a few choices from what the staff could tell us.Jacket potato was warm at best, looked like it had been left over from day before and tuna was just tipped on, no mayo, no salad to dress.And for this poor excuse for lunch one was charged £7.50!Another jacket was similar, warm at best.Not sure about the idea to serve everything on paper plates and in “burger boxes” to me it’s not a good way to serve customers and build a solid reputation.I have used the Waves many times and am now not so sure for the future.Maybe it will just be a coffee after a run instead of...
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The staff, food, and atmosphere were all fantastic. The cafe/bar seemed to attract people with dogs, as they were everywhere. We had to be cautious not to step on them, but they were all well-behaved and it wasn't a bother at all. The entire place was very clean and well-maintained. Our small double room upstairs with a skylight window was very comfortable and incredibly clean. The location right on the seafront was perfect for taking leisurely walks along the sandy beach. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the staff for a great stay.
Use the waves all the time, the staff are excellent/service is always good even when busy/ always a warm welcome wether you are having just a cuppa or having a full blown meal.The waves is dog friendly in fact it’s more than friendly the dogs cared for with fresh water and the odd dog treat.Food is always been good and is always hot and reasonably priced.Fantastic hide away after walking the dogs

Just the spot for something to eat and drink after a good walk along the sands with the dogs. Dogs welcome, in fact more dogs than people at times. Staff friendly and working very hard. Only downside is that in current cold weather it’s a bit tight for space, loads of tables outside for when the warmth returns. Worth a visit
Dog poo everywhere in garden (probably most of it from their own 4 dogs) can only assume their kitchen hygiene standards aren 't great. I know it 's Dog friendly but so is The Minnis next door only they don 't have dog poo everywhere and don 't allow dogs in their kitchen.
Called in Lunchtime for a hot drink and a cake. Quality and price were reasonable,service polite and efficient,and very fast! Comfy surrounds,and lots of nice pleasant dogs for me to fuss and enjoy.
Review of a Sunday breakfast: The breakfast was quite average, served on paper plates with wooden utensils. For a price of £8, it would be nice to see a more presentable presentation.

The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant, they welcome dogs (and humans too!), there is ample parking, and it's our top choice for a peaceful few hours.
