The cakes are average. My first experience ordering was good, but the second time was disappointing. I sent an email ahead of time and provided my name and number as requested. However, after three days without a response, we decided to call them. Their reply was, "Let me call you back in half an hour after I read the email." After two hours had passed, we called again, and a different person answered, promising to call back once they read the email. Unfortunately, they never did. If you want a delicious, well-made cake with a quick turnaround, I recommend ordering from Sweet Temptations Bakery in Evanston. You won't be disappointed.
This is likely the best bakery I’ve ever been to, and I will certainly drive the long distance back here again. I tried the cherry almond muffin, chocolate coconut macaron, wild berry scone, and a mini peach pie—oh my goodness! Everything was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be ordering my birthday cake from here. I'm so glad I discovered this place; it's the best bakery, and the decor is so charming. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful as well.

This bakery is quite average, and the service leaves much to be desired. The staff was rude and unhelpful when it came to fulfilling basic requests. If you're looking for better options, I would recommend Deerfield Bakery or Sugar Coated in Highland Park instead.

The ambiance at The Toadstool is delightful, but sadly, the tequila sunrise I ordered was the worst I've ever had. It’s surprising how such a straightforward drink could be so poorly made. My partner’s whiskey with ginger ale was just as disappointing.

Excellent staff!!! Come for the delicious Bloody Marys, but stay for the fantastic atmosphere. It feels just like home. We absolutely love the Toadstool!
