These poutines are LOADED with toppings and definitely hit the spot when you want something rich, textured, and when you're craving fries. We got 4 different poutines and shared among 4 people. Honestly the large size is huge and I've never been able to finish a large between 2 people so getting a regular is usually enough unless you have a really big appetite. My favourite is the maple bacon and the southwest. They taste so different from each other that alternating between bites of the two prolongs taste fatigue; doesn't feel like you're eating the exact same thing every bite.
It took me almost a year before trying another poutine from The Big Cheese Poutinerie after being let down so much in my first experience. The reason why I thought it was necessary to write this review was because my $16 poutine today the mushroom, sausage, and bacon poutine gave an after-taste consistency of sand in my mouth. Every bite had very fine granules of an unknown and un-dissolving substance that made the first and only two bites of my poutine as an awful experience. I will never be going back here again. Don't settle for this place. Respect yourself.
I had an okay experience at this restaurant. The staff member taking my order seemed a bit confused when I requested vegan poutine, as if she didn't even realize it was an option (which sadly happens often in Calgary). When I finally got my poutine, the gravy was unexpectedly sweet. I would consider eating here again if friends wanted to go, but I wouldn't come back on my own.
The staff at The Big Cheese are knowledgeable and very helpful in making sure that orders are vegan. Unfortunately, my dining experience was not great; the food was quite bland and unappetizing. There are far more creative and affordable vegan options available elsewhere. Given the high prices here, I don't believe it's worth it.

Kayla truly made my day with the best perogie poutine I've ever tasted. The balance of gravy, fries, and toppings was perfect, and the container was overflowing. When she handed me my drink, she had no way of knowing that the secret message inside read "sending good vibes." Good vibes received!
Whenever I visit my family in Canada, we always stop by this restaurant. They offer vegan and gluten-free options, along with a variety of poutine types like pierogi, maple bacon, and buffalo chicken. Even though my family isn’t vegan, they enjoy the vegan poutines too!
The restaurant is easy to adapt for vegans, and the staff is knowledgeable, but I'd like to see more options beyond just vegan gravy and Daiya cheese. Additionally, it seemed a bit pricey for most diners.
