The Black Bear Inn

First time visiting The Black Bear, well what can I say ? Perfect from start to finish! Excellent food, starters mains deserts. We had our 5 year old granddaughter with us and Joshua the owner and chef provided us with a dish that she enjoyed, but I must say we have eaten in a few Michelin star restaurants and they don't seem to cater to the younger generation... so hats off the the chef. Also, the waiting staff were most accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Would we eat here again? Most definitely, would we recommend? Most definitely. Can't wait to return. Oh and by the way with regards to a previous reviewer who complained about the price of the Welsh rarebit, I think they calle...

I recently had another fantastic meal at Black Bear. The location is stunning, with all the cozy charm of a local pub and the high-quality food of a fine dining restaurant, but without any pretentiousness. The cooking is excellent, using great seasonal ingredients. I especially enjoyed their oysters and the Scallop dish with bone marrow butter was outstanding. If I lived in the village, I would probably never want to leave. Kudos to the team for their hard work in these challenging times!

I had high expectations for a delicious meal based on the recent reviews, but unfortunately, our experience was not as great as anticipated. Although the overall meal was good, the scallop 'special' starter was disappointing. Priced at £11, I was expecting a larger, perfectly cooked scallop, but instead, it was small and overcooked, making it rubbery. This mishap definitely put a damper on the evening.

I recently posted a poor review of what I thought was this place.. when it should have been for a similar named establishment.. I can only apologise to the owner, and anyone who read the review.. This place ‘Black bear inn’ usk is truly amazing. Just returned from having lunch, the best quality and cooking I’ve had in a very, very long time.. cannot recommend enough.. Reserva una mesa ahora

We had a delightful dining experience. The ambiance was calming, the food was exceptionally delicious, and the service was extremely friendly. We are planning to celebrate a family member's upcoming 80th birthday by booking a meal at this restaurant. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely return in the future.

Well what can I say, can't speak highly enough about this wonderful restaurant. Been meaning to go for a long time and did not disappoint in any way. Food absolutely delicious from the snacks, starter, main courses and desserts. Quality superb. Service could not fault in any way, a pure gem of a place. Will be back very soon.

Have been meaning to eat here for ages. Was not disappointed. The Black Bear fully deserves its reputation for the finest of food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This is how it's done. Attention to detail in the way the food is prepared, complementary tastes and all so unfussy. Brilliant

Fairy tale pub deep in the countryside with innovative cuisine making great use of excellent local produce, interesting wines, and a warm welcome from attentive staff. For cooking of this quality pricing is very fair. It most certainly is worth the extensive detour. Reserva una mesa ahora

Probably one of the finest meals I’ve ever had. I’d heard that this pub had an excellent reputation however I’ve heard that before! This time absolutely justified, everything was brilliantly done, great staff, great food and good drink. Well done all involved

We're visiting some Welsh Gastropubs and we had a fantastic meal here. Really great selection of snacks, delicious oysters and croquettes and a beautiful seafood main course. Really interesting wine list and fab, friendly service.
