The Bread Lady-SSI Bread Co

Absolutely must see this stop on the artists trail. Although not directly on the map any longer, it's absolutely worth the adventure to see out this delightful little bread producer at the south east end of the island. Beautiful grounds and architecture, with their bread studio overlooking the water. Staff was exceptionally friendly. Breads and focaccia were excellent. Sadly, most of what we purchased never made it out of the parking lot. Bonus: Tony's Tarts is a cross the street!

The drive up to the shop is amazing being surrounded by towering trees, when you reach thing the park area there is a great view the bay and the neighboring islands. The bakery is a cute little open air shop with a great wood-fired oven. They have racks of every kind of imaginable bread. I'll include pictures, we loved the chocolate bread and sundried tomato. Make sure and ask for Laura, she is very knowledgeable about all of their offerings.

Heather has been baking for decades-one of our best kept secrets and locals favorite tucked away in the deep south with an amazing selection and beautiful wood fired oven setup-worth the drive just for this amazing local artisan made wood fired bread.If your heading to the South end-its worth the extra drive -dont be fooled by the Fakery in Fulford selling bread from Victoria

Absolutely must go to see the Bread Lady! Beautiful grounds and architecture, with their bread studio overlooking the water. We sat in chairs overlooking the water while snacking on the yummiest breads. Then had focaccia pizza and was amazing. She bakes daily to supply people with the most tasty bread. She is at the Market on Saturdays that runs from May to Oct. You got to get there really early to buy one of her loaves, as they go quickly.
