From the outside, it’s a charming pub—I even have a lovely watercolor of it hanging in my bar at home—and it’s situated in a fantastic location, which makes it hard to believe it could ever close for good. With outdoor seating available on one of the main pedestrian streets in town, the pub attracts a decent daytime crowd, including those looking for a quick meal. However, during my last visit on a rainy Tuesday night, the atmosphere felt quite lackluster, with only a few despondent patrons inside. The Bricklayers Arms offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of the shopping street. Nestled slightly away from the main thoroughfare, complete with its own gated terrace, this charming little pub beckons you in with the sounds of northern icons like Paul Weller playing from its outdoor speakers. Inside, the pub has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, thanks to the new landlords known for their work at The Orange Tree, resulting in a much-improved atmosphere. What a difference a new owner, some fresh paint, and a thorough cleaning can make! I would even take my mother there now, and she’s incredibly picky. It’s such a pleasant place to enjoy a drink; it’s much brighter and more inviting than it used to be. Kudos to the new owners of the Orange Tree for a job well done! It will always be our local spot. One suggestion: could we take down the umbrellas in the beer garden on sunny days? We’re not getting enough sunshine as it is!

I took my father out for a special dinner (not at this restaurant), and afterwards we decided to grab a pint. Compared to Tavern on the Green, this place was lacking—serving us less than half a pint of beer. It was disappointing, as I believe pubs should have a lively atmosphere with good music that isn’t too loud, allowing for pleasant conversation, and they should offer a great selection of beers along with excellent service. we had a real renter and a renter. they're a nice couple. they deserve to go on. I bet the tenant/owner has noticed how the sales have shot up compared to the other manager who is completely free from any management skills or any experience in the leadership and hospitality that she should have shown her mules. she is without any personality. maybe because she was a heavy cannabis consumer and a secret drinker.

Last Saturday (February 2022), I visited this restaurant for a few pints and was impressed by the large drink options at great prices. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was fantastic. It's a really nice place, and I will definitely be back!
