My best friend drove down from Surrey yesterday with a request that we dine at the Digby. From entering, we were noticed. Staff smiled and said Hi, then the manager Immediately took charge with banter and smiles. We were seated at a lively window seat. From then on it ran like clockwork. Drinks order. Drinks served. Food order taken. Food served. Sauces asked and given. Food was so good. I could not stop eating. Hot, fresh and full of flavour. It was huge, and then the veg came. Wow. With just enough room to share a banana waffle I cannot tell you enough, it was perfect!
Terrible service. We were there on a busy Saturday night plenty of staff on who were more interested in chatting and having a laugh together than taking our order and collecting our drinks. Food was very good, would've expected a hirer level of service for the price we paid. We enjoyed the food but won't go here again on a weekend.
My chicken burger was supposed to come in brioche bun but it was ordinary bun which was very dry. Staff said they had delivery problems could only supply a vegan brioche which was brought to me half way through meal. Very disappointed.
We all enjoyed our meal at Captain Digby. The service was excellent. One meal was late being served and we were not charged for that particular part of the meal. This was much appreciated. We had a lovely sea view. I would recommend.

Great and friendly staff. Disappointed that whitebait was not on the menu as it used to be. Please bring it back.
