I received a parking fine over 2 years ago and there were no signs on the table. Couldn't be bothered with all the hassle so eventually paid a fine for the worst meal I have ever eaten. Would rather be over charged for food at bents, as at least they provide nice food and free parking with no threat of a fine. I know at least 10 people who have been fined at this pub for simply supporting a local business. Not just myself) Such a shame as the pub is a beautiful building and I remember it being good home cooked food and free parking back in the 90s. Another local pub decimated. : .
Thai menu on a Sunday. 2 courses for £20 with a choice of 4 options for starters and 4 for the main. Fishcake starter was 4 fishcakes approx 4mm thin and 4cm diameter with a dip, not much taste apart from being fried and no salad or anything on the side. The main was fish which cost £2 extra in a peanut butter type sauce which tasted quite nice. But with just rice it again could do with some sort of veg.
If you receive a fine for parking in this free car park from civil enforcement, don't just give in and pay. Stand up and fight back against their bullying tactics. It's not fair or right, and because of this, the pub has lost my business and likely many others as well.
Just had the pleasure of dining in the comfortable Gill for the 1st time I had the all day brunch and my wife had the vegetable lasagne and both were excellent really tasty home cooked food at a great price with really friendly staff and a good selection of beers

Great pub and great food. Staff very friendly and for those moaning about being fined for parking there are signs everywhere inside and out so there are no excuses !
Stopped by after driving past one day. Lovely little spot, small and cosy. Friendly staff. Very clean. Hoping to go back for some food.
This place is a little gem food great drinks reasonable prices and hospitality second to none
Avoid civil enforcement car parking will issue fines for parking on a free to use car park.
