When I was in residence as organist at Gloucester cathedral for a week two summer’s ago, we decided we should give this place a try somewhat later in our stay. I wondered if the pews came from the cathedral whenever they swapped them for chairs. I’m sorry to say we didn’t try this place sooner, as everything was beautifully done and well seasoned (which is not what I can say for the main pub in town that shall remain nameless, but perhaps they’ve since discovered salt). The lunch is still memorable to this day and the meat and mushroom pie was wonderful. The service was good and it was neat dining on a pew.
Yesterday, while visiting Gloucester Cathedral, we stopped by this little nearby place for a drink. The staff informed us that they could only offer takeaway drinks as they were closing at 3pm, which was only a few minutes away. Despite the time constraint, the staff was very polite and accommodating. We regret not being able to try their cakes, but we will definitely consider revisiting this place if we come back to Gloucester.
What a lovely little restaurant. Friendly staff, who were very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I could tell the staff enjoyed their jobs, and wanted to be there. The food was lovely, came out quickly. The prices are very reasonable. I would recommend, if visiting Gloucester, to try Comfy Pew.
Nice crepes and milkshake with an excellent view out on to the cathedral if you sit outside.. beware of the seagulls though we were well warned! Indoor seating was also plentiful you seat yourself and order at the till when ready. Food was then brought promptly. Nice efficient service Reserva una mesa ahora
