It's a challenge to remain objective when you have a bad dining experience, in this case I have nothing to be objective about. We didn't eat! My adult son and I stopped in for what was supposed to be a quick bite, instead it was time wasted, waiting for nothing as we left with my requested refund and an empty stomach. Which leaves me to think why and how? Three different staff members were in and out of the dining area where we were seated, all the while passing our table that had a number but no food. Surely one of them, if they had any real notion of customer service and care would have noticed the time passing. The woman behind the bar who took the order, in particular, should have noticed. When I went to the bar to ask how much longer, I waited a good 5 minutes for her to return only my to tell me 5 more minutes, in other words they hadn't even started cooking the meal. No apologies, the money is handed over to me, barely looking interested, so we left perturbed. I understand that I'm just another patron, these things happen, however my thoughts go to the countless ways it "should not have happened". It comes to the staff and their level of customer service which in this case is severely lacking.Needless to say I'll never return to sample their offerings.

The rating is average as I cannot stretch to very good and there is nothing in between.I have read some disparaging reports about this venue but when we had dinner the recently I have to say the food was good. I had a scotch fillet steak with salad & fries, others had a Margaretta pizza, the beef burger and we shared some salt & pepper squid. Everyone was happy with their food, the steak was tender and juicy and not overcooked. What I would say is the downstairs bar when you walk in off the street is relatively small, there is a gambling area through a door at the end of the bar, but the wall separating them makes the front bar seem quite small for a Church St venue. The eating area decor is a little tired and the tables need maintenance, ours was like trying to eat on a rolling sea. Upstairs where the show was the decor and furnishings are in dire need of a makeover, but you do not eat in this area.It appears they are trying to renovate the venue step by step, but this is my guess only.

First time here recently, local pub on the main dining street of Parramatta. Friendly bouncers on the door. Dining area with windows that opens out onto the Main Street. Typical pub menu at reasonable prices.Upstairs area is comfortable with lounges and large open windows where you can get a good view of the NYE fireworks in Parramatta. This is a smoking area. Toilets were clean and modern. Also upstairs is a function room with a cook fish tank built into the wall. Nice little pub, happy to recommend for a casual meal or drinks.

Okay, it actually isn't my sort of pub - it's pretty stock standard, and just a little tacky, however the one thing that makes it stand out from a number of other places that I visited is that the staff were incredibly friendly. In fact it is the main reason why I gave this place such a high rating. Normally I wouldn't do such a thing, and I am unlikely to come back here, however I do with to give credit where credit is due.
