We visited after a lovely walk in the area as I was visiting the cemetery at Upper Lambourn. Not knowing the area at all, we happened upon the pub and decided to grab a bite to eat before heading home. What can I say?! It’s the perfect pub. Two lovely roaring fires in the bar area, a beautifully decorated bar, and a lovely soft smooth new oak bar to prop yourself up at! We were greeted warmly, and seated quickly with no problems to accommodate my dog. Staff were lovely and very helpful, and menus arrived immediately. Really looking forward to a nice meal with friends this evening. Had had good reviews but we were so disappointed. Husbands steak was sent back as asked for medium rare but was well done. Friend ordered burger which looked like a load of mush, so she left most of it. I ordered goujons which were cold and not cooked, chips were nice though! Service was good and they rectified by reducing the bill. But was shocked to see 15% service charge was added to the bill which we were not aware off! I tried the Alabama burger and found it to be quite tasty. The restaurant had a cool vibe and the service was excellent. It's also kid-friendly, with a small playground in the back. The average cost per person is between £20–£30. I rate the food, service, and atmosphere all a 5 out of 5. Recommended dish is the Burger with Everything. Plenty of parking available, with a free parking lot option.
