We booked our table for 12.45pm for a Sunday roast on the 15th Oct. We were warned initially that the food was running “a little late”. After one hour and 35 minutes the roasts finally arrived. The food was extremely poor. Our plates were smothered in a mass of thick gravy making everything mushy and the slow roasted pork belly was undercooked and was 75% un-rendered fat. The Yorkshire puddings were undercooked and cold. Although we were not charged for this awful food we certainly wouldn’t have wanted to pay full price considering the quality of food served up. Fantastic food, excellent service (as always)! I recently dined at The George and was impressed by the attentive and friendly young waitress. I am a regular at this restaurant and am always amazed by the variety of pies they offer. On this particular visit, the pie of the day was a chicken curry, which the waitress highly recommended. I am so glad I listened to her suggestion - it was absolutely delicious and the best pie I have ever eaten! I can't wait to go back and try more pies. This place is amazing!
We've used this place dozens of times, the food and service is of high quality consistently. I highly recommend this gem of a place to dine, we've eaten in a few restaurants locally and nothing touches the George for value and a friendly and professional service. We visit here regularly travelling from Hertfordshire, definitely worth it you won't be disappointed!
I haven't visited this restaurant in a while, but I was pleased to see that the food and service are still excellent. We went for Sunday lunch and even though the restaurant was busy, we were well taken care of. We both ordered the roast beef, which was delicious. We definitely won't wait so long to come back.
