My wife I were on holiday in Richmond for a week and we came to view this as our temporary local, mainly due to the fact that we were made to feel so comfortable welcome by all the staff and regulars too. It’s just a really good pub. If you’re a live sports fan, as we are (footy for us), it’s a crackin’ pub to have as an option to watch your favourite sport team – probably the best in the town, I’d say, and I think I went in all of ‘em that had live sport on when doing a reconnaissance prior to a live game a couple of days later. Hubby likes Marstons pubs so when we were looking for somewhere near to the bus stops (and you can't get closer than this pub! and spotted the Marstons sign we went straight in. Good Covid procedures and female bar staff were great. Had to use sanitiser immediately and provide details, which we did. She was very friendly. However, the pub itself is cosy, traditional and the drinks were cheap BUT there were a few customers who were obviously heavy smokers as they were in and out of the back, returning smelling even more of stale smoke. First time in Richmond and first pub we called in one early Saturday afternoon and what a welcome! Set the tone for the rest of the day. Very warm, chatty and friendly barmaid (lady from Northamptonshire) who clearly loves her job. And...friendly, open locals. Small pub with a good atmosphere and cheapest Moretti in town! Will definitely be back.
This used to be my go-to restaurant, but not anymore. I stood up for the staff and got kicked out for supporting what was happening and being honest. I think you need to consider the bigger picture. I will miss this place now, as I have a lot of friends who may also decide to leave after tonight.

Great bar where you can always interact with the very friendly locals for some well humoured banter. Drinks prices are some of the cheapest anywhere and all are well kept and served. This is what real pubs are meant to be like genuine and welcoming and I hope it never changes. Absolutely brill.
I stopped by for a couple of pints and had the best pint of Wainwrights in years. The woman behind the bar was delightful, taking our order and bringing our drinks to our table. It was a pleasant surprise and greatly appreciated. We give it a 10 out of 10, thank you!
If I had to describe the archetypical ordinary British pub, I’d probably mention decent ale, friendly barmaid, real fire in the grate, football on the telly, music on the jukebox, friendly locals and a few lads playing darts. Welcome to the Golden Lion in Richmond!
We reserved a table for six and enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast. The portions were generous and delicious, and the drinks were also very good. The staff was friendly, making this an excellent choice for dining out.

Been here a few times during the day but this time we visited on a night and stayed for the karaoke! Very busy. Cheap drinks. Great, lively atmosphere. Friendly staff. Not much room to dance!
Fantastic food good price lovely staff so helpful. I was amazed by how low priced the meal are. We had a Sunday dinner it was fantastic with lovely veg and meats . would go again.
