If you're ok with waiting over an hour just to get appetizers this place is for you! We went to this restaurant at 7:30 on a Wednesday night and sat on the half empty patio. The waitress did greet us promptly and get us drinks but after we got our drinks she didn't come back to our table forever despite several attempts to get her attention. We spent a good 30 mins waiting to order and another 30 to get our appetizers. We ordered a Ceaser Salad and Mussels with red tomato sauce to start; the salad had so much dressing on it it was heavy on the plate and ruined, while the tomato sauce on the mussels wasn't fresh at all. We stumbled on the Goofie Newfie by accident. We were actually looking for another pub/restaurant along the waterfront but we were on the opposite side of the river. We say Goofie Newfie and decided to give it a try. We're glad we did. They have 10 different beers on tap. We ordered a couple of Keiths which were served ice cold in tall glasses. My wife had a burger, I had the cod fish sandwich. Both were very good. The burger was a handmade patty on a brioche bun with fresh toppings. It took 45 minutes or so to get our food, the food was fine, but nothing stood out as special. Menu was a bit overpriced, maybe by 20% or so. My friends chicken sandwich was nearly too spicy to eat. My onion rings were burnt. Soup of the day the highlight of the meal. Dinner for 2 $50.00 plus tip a bit much for what we received. Can not recommend. Atmosphere kind of interesting. Staff polite.

The Goofie Newfie is a hidden little gem of a restaurant in Fergus. The decor is a great look is great, They have about 10 beers on tap. The fish and chips are a great deal too. The fish is a good size and not greasy.

These r the best nachos in canada! (Well maybe ontario) Loaded chriscut fries, large portion and always a beautiful view of the rive in downtown fergus and perfect service. Thanks for another great visit
