I had a good experience with the service at this restaurant - the staff were kind and welcoming, and the food arrived quickly. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, with a cute little setup. However, I was disappointed with my order of the "plain Jane" cheeseburger. It was essentially a patty melt, consisting of just a bun, hamburger patty, and cheese. There were no toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, or sauces. Additionally, the menu referred to French fries as "chips," which was confusing. I may reconsider my review if I decide to give this place another try, but for now, I was unimpressed and ended up wasting $12 as I only took a few bites before discarding the food.
The “Slip-up” was the only place we were able to get a table. Great idea to have a “seat yourself” service and to basically let customers take ownership for orders by placing orders at the bar. I think they were reallly short staffed when we were there which led to food taking almost 1hour per order to be prepared. The cocktails were also average and expensive. Our server/barman was very good, but I felt for the guy who had to run in between drink orders to also deliver food to tabels. In the end the food arrived and it was decent, but not worth the time and the $80 spent.
This place is fantastic. The food is delicious and they prioritize sustainability for people, the planet, and animals. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend it. As for dietary restrictions, I don't eat gluten or dairy and they were happy to provide a burger with lettuce. I was also able to customize my burger with additional ingredients and request certain items be removed.
Update: The owner may mention signs being posted about the policy, but if we are greeted positively upon entering, allowed to sit where we choose, order and pay through the app, only to be chastised about the policy afterwards, it is poor protocol and feels like a bait-and-switch. Delicious local burger joint, conveniently close to downtown Kirkland and Marina Park. Cafe style: order just inside the front door of this small restaurant, and then get served at your table by the friendly staff. There's a couple tables inside, but if it's spring or summer head out to the good-sized patio!
