Located just off the A64, the Ham and Cheese is easily accessible and set in a charming location. We stopped here for lunch on our way to the coast and were happy we did. The bar staff gave us a warm welcome upon arrival, having booked over the phone the day before. They had a great selection of beers and lagers, and the pub was clean, tidy, and had a cozy atmosphere. I ordered the pulled pork ciabatta, my wife had a ploughman's, and my daughter had a steak baguette - all delicious and filling. The onion rings on the side were a nice touch. The toilets were clean, and my daughter enjoyed chatting with Terrence the tortoise in his large tank in the bar area. I highly recommend this place and...
Called in on our way back from from Scarborough , we hadn't booked but they found a table for us, the staff were very welcoming and very efficient they really made you feel at home, the pub was clean and cosy, we had Garlic Mushrooms for starters which came with a small warm loaf of bread , it was amazing! we had steak for main came with chunky chips, side salad, a large mushroom, a tomato, and very large home made onion rings, the whole main was to die for cooked to perfection. didn't have a pudding (not like me) but i was too full with the meal...... you really need to treat yourself and go you will not be disappointed my whole experience was just brilliant couldn't fault a thing.
I’ve just popped into Malton, to visit family. Before the two hour trip home I fancied pub food. OH MY GOODNESS… I’ve just had the best steak and ale pie for years! Great size, proper chips, delightfully creamy mash oh and peas… the pie had a wonderful fresh glazed crust in a dish that was full of gorgeous steak! Complements to the chef!!!!! Had a beautiful ginger sponge to finish off with. Soft and fluffy and delicious. I will definitely be back! Big thanks to the welcoming staff too! What a joy. Thank you.
Our first time staying at the ham and cheese and the best experience we have had claire and all the staff were friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were catered for they even kept re supplying with milk as we kept running out the food was unbelievable and well worth the money we will definately come back again

I cannot recommend The Ham and Cheese enough. The service was exceptional and the staff went above and beyond. The food was amazing and the restaurant had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that was perfect for our family lunch. We will definitely be returning for their Sunday lunch next time.
I recently returned from a two-night stay with bed, breakfast, and dinner included. The food was excellent, the rooms were comfortable, and the service was outstanding. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect.
Just Lovely As Always, we ordered some sandwiches and chips and our waters was attentive and friendly. Lovely food and again a warm welcome. We never tire of coming here
I've past this place 10,000 times but glad we called in today after working locally. Service, food and ambience was spot on!

Must have been no 2 chef both meals poor think the kitchen was too busy preping for night bookings
