After following up again about the fries, the bar manager completely ignored us, still without offering any apology. When we asked for the bill, there was once again no acknowledgment of our concerns. We indicated that we wouldn't be paying for the fries, and yet again, there was no apology. The bill arrived without a service charge, which we wouldn't have paid anyway; however, in our honesty, we didn't double-check the contactless payment, and unfortunately, the staff had added a service charge without us noticing—something we definitely wouldn't have agreed to. We went on a Friday and had the most splendid waitress. We were a party of allergies, vegans,vegetarian and meat eaters. Oh and a dog. She made all of us including the dog feel really welcome. The food matched the waitresses standard, ensuring we all walked home satisfied and really happy. Dog had icecream. As it was international irish coffee day, they went out of their way to make a lovely irish coffee. Vegetarian options: Had the selection of side dishes and they were delicious Dietary restrictions: They catered for the various allergies in our group. Listened and checked with the chef.

Such a lovely place! We stopped in for dinner last night and were greeted so warmly (which was very welcome as it was raining cats dogs outside! . Food was superb we had the Crab Risotto Calf's Liver both delish. And the team serving were wonderful and so friendly. Our dog was also treated royally. We'll definitely be back thank you! Great location....lots of people enjoying the Sunday sunshine.....we arrived at 1pm with no booking. No food available so book up!! Lovely place but they were totally overwhelmed by the number of customers. Parking: Parking on country lanes with driveways to avoid a bit tricky! Had the most wonderful lunch today with my family. It was extremely busy but we never felt left out or anything was too much trouble. Nickie and the team were very helpful. The food was exceptional we all had different things from the menu I had the liver and bacon which was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back again Food: 5 Service: 5

Great food, service and atmosphere. Absolutely lovely meal. Recommend booking in advance as it's popular. A true hidden gem on the Ashdown Forest. Didn't eat this time, but the cask ale was outstandingly good. Starting with a sparkling glass, perfect temperature and conditioning and almost uniquely this side of lockdown, serving a full pint measure in the glass. Add atmosphere and friendly locals. It's all there for the devoted Harvey's drinker.

Parking: The parking at the pub is quite limited, which means you'll likely have to park on the road nearby. During busy times, you might need to walk a short distance from your vehicle.
