The service at this restaurant was not very good. Normally we only come to the Hatton for drinks, not for food. We made a reservation for a Boxing Day meal with our family and were treated very poorly by one of the staff members. Our children, who are 18 and 17 years old, did not see anything on the main menu that they liked, so we wanted to order 2 children's meals for each of them (to make up for the size). However, we were told that we could not do this because they were over 10 years old. The server mentioned that this is the policy everywhere, but I pointed out that this is not the case at the London Bridge pub or anywhere else I have been. Was kept waiting at the bar before anyone spoke to us. I had booked a table for two. After about 10 mins we got to order our drinks and food. Drinks came, then we waited, and waited, and waited. After an hour I asked when they thought we might get our meals....we'd both ordered roast beef. After the staff all vanished into the kitchen a female member of staff came to say that our order had been lost as they'd had to change the till roll......thought about this on the drive home, so how comes the drinks came? Pretty soon the food arrived, looked lovely, tasted good too....not enough roast potatoes though, mash just doesn't cut it on a roast dinner. We did wonder if they might have knocked any...
The food we all had was good. However the service was terrible. The restaurant was fairly busy but some things are just unacceptable. After 10 minutes we had to ask could we order drinks. The waitress was unaware of what alcohol free drinks were available. When the drinks arrived the one person who was drinking alcohol was served a gin and tonic without the gin. This was spotted by the waitress but come on, that’s basic. Once the starters were served we asked for some water for the table. Twenty minutes later it arrived after we reminded them. We have eaten here a number of times and always had excellent food and service in this lovely atmospheric pub. We would like to extend a thank you to the manager and chef who very kindly came in early for us this week to provide a private area and buffet for us following my father's funeral. The fire was lit and ready providing a warm and welcome arrival for us. Everything was very professionally and smoothly done and the food was lovely. I'd also like to say thank you for the kindness and compassion shown to us at a difficult time. Thank you .

I came here with my team from work just prior to Christmas and was so impressed with both the food and the service that I brought my family and some friends this afternoon for an early NYE dinner. Everyone commented how great their meal was, I had a duo of meat roast dinner and the portion size was among the best you can get, the quality of the ingredients was excellent. We live closer to other similar places but I think we'll make the drive here in future. Thanks to everyone at the Hatton Arms.
Our visit was perfect. The food was top quality, the service was outstanding in all areas. We have been visiting the Hatton Arms for over 45 years through its many manifestations and as per any business it’s had its ups and downs, but over the last 12 months or so it’s been back to its best. But you can’t please everyone no matter how perfect you are, that’s a fact!!!
Just had a gorgeous Sunday lunch, as ever good food and service was good. Never had a problem with the service here, they are no slower than anywhere else and our waitress was professional and friendly. I was sad to see the change in the dinning room though , the large seat at the garden end has been removed , it added lovely character to the room .
I had a delightful stroll to the Hatton Arms and decided to have lunch there. I ordered the chicken and bacon salad, which was absolutely delicious. The service was fantastic, and they made sure everything was to our satisfaction. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you.

Every time we visit this restaurant, the food is always excellent. Last night was no different - all four of us had really delicious meals. The seafood linguine was particularly outstanding, the best I have ever had. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Despite the roaring fire on arrival , it wasn’t a warm welcome . Worst customer service experienced for some time
