Vegan? I wouldn't even want to go near anything related to this word. Before going to this restaurant I had no understanding of what actually vegan food tastes like. This restaurant has completely changed my views on vegan food and would like to try out more different things! Love the vibes here, this is a great cafe with delicious vegan dishes and delicious drinks. This is a place to take a break from everything else, have a rest and take in the time here. Special recommended drinks are the matcha latte, and the turmeric latte. The restaurant also provided flower teas with different flavours, containing mint as it was very refreshing. Herbarium opens for dinner in the evening and so I booked a table. I was hoping to love it but sadly I would not go back for dinner. It was very quiet and so you would expect the table we were sitting at to be clean. It was sticky so the waitress offered to clean it. It was also a little chilly in the room too. The service was so slow and we waited ages for our starters. The same with our mains and we put this down to me having allergies and maybe the kitchen was being precautious. We never got asked if we wanted dessert as our waitress seemed uninterested and was counting money out of the till at the counter. Absolutely brilliant place in the heart of Lancaster! Just a stone's throw from the town hall and situated in a lovely building! Absolutely brilliant staff and feel in the place with a huge menu with loads of homecooked food which is absolutely brilliant, the entire menu is fully vegan and you can really tell they love the food they make and put so much care into the food! It's a chilled and relaxed atmosphere, dog friendly and they have loads of really great loose leaf teas which are fantastic! We would definitely visit again when we're back in Lancaster, and if you're looking for vegan food this is definitely the place!
Lovely little café/restaurant for vegans or anyone who wants to try vegan food, I don't see any reasons meateaters wouldn't like this place. We had the big breakfast plus pancakes. Our dog was welcome too : Took some time to get our food since it's a small kitchen so it's not a place for impatient people, but it was well worth the wait.

Love the place! The design is amazing and you can tell the place is managed with care and passion. Everything is vegan and delicious. The mugs the coffee comes in are unique, handmade clay cups. I recommend the mushroom melt sandwiches. Mushrooms are amazingly spiced with some rosemary plus the cheese and buns are good quality.
This spot gives you vibes, of being outside in the wild but indoors and it was very warm. The coffee was perfect, as I was here for a meeting, it's quiet and well lit, and strategically located a few meters from Dalton Square...the fact that it is vegan, it's my go to place...
We went for lunch/brunch menu. I had the African stew (pictured) which was delicious! And a blueberry bakewell which was delicious. My auntie had a sausage stew which didn't have hardly any sausage so this was disspointing. The service was great and I enjoyed the decor.
Utterly fabulous breakfast. Great service. Thank you. My only niggle is the opening time. I had a 10am appointment so needed breakfast before 9.30. Otherwise I'd have come back again for another awesome start to the day.

This is one of the most amazing cafes I've ever been to! I had the New York bagel fully vegan and latte again, fully vegan and all was delicious. Loads of rooms (beautifully decorated) and spaces for seating.
