The Heron Public House

We had high hopes for dinner this evening! Harvest stalled so an opportunity for dinner out and to catch up with each other. I had lasagne which was delicious my husband had rib eye steak and all the trimmings, it was terrible….more like a piece of frying steak…..inedible despite a valiant effort! We said to one of the waitresses it wasn’t very nice and certainly not rib eye…..she said she’d mention it to the chef! She never came back to us, we went to pay the bill and we had to ask what the chef said……..”it must just be a bed one in the batch and he’d talk to the butcher” no apology…….or acknowledgement to us. We took the left over steak home for our dogs supper……it wasn’t fit for anything...

We left a message in the afternoon asking if we could book a table for that evening. A cheerful lady phoned us back promptly and booked us in for 6.30pm despite the fact they had some larger Christmas Parties that evening. I had the 10oz haddock, chips peas and a pint of Doom Bar. My Wife had the Sea bream and a small bottle of Prosecco. The food was really good and not over priced. The service was friendly and efficient. If we are in that neck of the woods again we would certainly return. Thank you.

Located by the Relief Channel, this restaurant is a great spot to visit. We docked our boat and decided to stop in for a drink one evening. The atmosphere was lively and the menu looked fantastic, so we are definitely planning to try it on our next visit. Unfortunately, we had to leave the next day, but we found out that the pub was hosting a party the following evening, which tempted us to stay longer. With many awards displayed on the walls, we will definitely be returning in the future.

I stayed behind the Heron in my motorhome on the coldest night of the year (so far! . The warm lights of the pub beckoned and I couldn't resist popping in for dinner. FOOD I ordered the Haddock and chips and opted for the large portion. My word it is large! All washed down with a pint of Neck Oil. Yum. ACCOMMODATION This is my second time of visiting in my motorhome, it is an excellent stop off with all facilities (including a pub if you do not want to cook! and what a view to wake up to. What an amazing night at the Heron, we met up with friends who we have not seen for years. On arrival served by their wonderful staff and shown to our table. We ordered a variety of mains which were so good and tasty, plates empty. Desserts to end the meal, and drinks we enjoyed throughout. Staff looked after us so well such a great place to visit and enjoy the menu from snacks to mains. Thank you for a lovely night, see you again very soon

Really is a lovely place ..about 35 mins from us so not that far on a Sunday..Sunday lunch is really nice ..We went in the restaurant this time as we are not really doggie people..dogs in the pub area ..So clean even the toilets have great sparkling mirrors..We really enjoy it in there .. staff are lovely great afternoon out..Don't think its expensive get alot of food for your money ..worth a trip

Visited this excellent pub/restaurant whilst travelling and would thoroughly recommend it. The staff were friendly and professional at all times and added to the experience. Good choices on the menu, with daily specials too. Several Gluten Free options here which was helpful for our party. Huge Gin menu as well as several beers and wines.

I recently had a delicious Sunday roast at The Heron. The food was good value, high quality, and the service was attentive. Well worth a visit! Best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time. Roast Beef, roast potatoes, mash, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, honey roast parsnips and veg. Cauliflower cheese as an extra is a must! Crème brûlée is exceptional! Thank you for a lovely afternoon!

I had a wonderful dining experience at Hero. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the dining area was clean, tidy, and free of clutter.
