The Jambalaya Shoppe

I didn’t even get to try the food. It was my first time at this restaurant, and I wasn’t familiar with the menu. As soon as I walked in, the girl at the counter immediately asked what I wanted. I understand that they aim for quick service, but it felt a bit rushed. I told her I needed a moment to look at the menu displayed on the wall behind her. Unfortunately, that led to two awkward minutes of her just staring at me while I tried to decide. I was ordering for several people who weren’t with me, so it wasn’t just a straightforward choice. I might consider returning someday, but perhaps when someone else is working at the counter. The place did have a lovely aroma, though!

I had a really disappointing experience at this new location. On my first visit, it was just okay; the white beans were undercooked. I decided to give it another shot this past Saturday since the jambalaya place in Addis was closed, and that turned out to be a big mistake! The potato salad was crunchy and unappetizing. The jambalaya had burnt, crispy bits as if it had been scraped from the bottom of the pot. This isn't up to the usual standards of Jambalaya Shoppe, and I won’t be coming back for a third try.

I really enjoyed the jambalaya, and the portion was generous. The potato salad had a strong mayo flavor, which I didn’t particularly like. However, the chocolate pudding was excellent. While we were eating, the staff checked in on us to see how everything was and offered to get us anything we needed. I highly recommend this place—10/10!

The jambalaya, pastalaya, and gumbo were fantastic! However, I was disappointed at the end when I looked for my Banana Pudding, which never arrived. I initially thought the potato salad in its container was the pudding, so I was really let down when I discovered it wasn't part of my order. Reserva una mesa ahora

The gumbo was excellent as always, but instead of white rice, I received three cups of white beans! When I reached out to the restaurant, they suggested I could come pick up the correct order myself. No thanks—this is precisely why I use DoorDash!

I ordered the gumbo for two with a side of potato salad, but they only gave me one potato salad. They frequently mess up my orders, yet I keep coming back because I just can't resist their gumbo!
