My family gathered at this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Despite being busy, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. They made my elderly mother feel welcome and even offered assistance to help her move around easier. We were seated by the bay window, allowing us to hear each other clearly, which is a rare treat in a bustling restaurant. The menu offered a variety of delicious dishes that were enjoyed by all of us. What truly made our experience special, however, was the hardworking and witty staff who took great care of us. Thank you for making our visit memorable.
I took my daughter her for a drink, she has special needs. Pub looks nice but staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. Tried there again a few weeks later September 2023, with 3 of us, and just as bad. It was a Thursday, both times, and quiet, so there was no excuse for their total unfriendlyness!! They just couldn't be bothered with us! Won't be going again, and I believe one at least was a senior member of staff, as I asked for advice on a type of wine, and he just flicked his arm and didn't respond well.
Just had an amazing Sunday Roast Dinner at the Jolly Boatman . 3 choices of meat, help yourself to a great selection of veg, all the trimmings, gravy, and selection of accompanying sauces. Great value for money, great service all in a lovely environment too . Definitely recommend.
Sunday carvery. A bad experience as the service was very poor as was the food. The food was only LUKEWARM. The vegetables were hard (Broccoli and Cauliflower), the potatoes hardly roasted, Gravy lukewarm. We waited a very long time for the dessert menu and gave up in the end.

With nearly 50 guests, our sports club filled the function room. Apart from one minor hiccup of our own making, the food and service we received was excellent and we have no hesitation in recommending this venue for a large group. (I'm sure they're good on small groups, too!
We have just been here today for lunch with our friends and wanted to say how lovely the food was and how wonderful the staff are especially Brendan and Naomi, they were exceptionally friendly , helpful and deserve a raise, thank you for a lovely time x
Although a great looking, historic little pub right next to the canal, probably great for just having a drink but we had the Sunday Carvery and it was awful. £15.95 per head, total waste of money.
Lovely Sunday carvery, lovely friend of family, gathering warm environment lovely staff, really enjoyable. perfect place to be on a cold and dreary day.
