I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say so...
Can’t complain about the food which was excellent. But prices are eye watering for what you get. Argentinian prawn starter at for medium sized prawns in their shell is a bit over the top. The monk fish main was lovely but at a serving the size of a small bowl of cereal is again disappointing. We were not looking for ‘American portions’ but we were left with a feeling of being somewhat ripped off. for three people including glasses of wine , beers and cokes is , I think not great value. Service as ever was friendly and polite but incredibly slow. There appeared enough staff but was all very disjointed. Limited options for vegetarians. Decor and ambiance is lovely but overall really not good v...
The food was OK. We were disappointed in the menu, no fillet steak which of us had been wanting. The starters were very nice but the mains were a let down. The service was slow and sporadic. We found ourselves constantly having to request.......cutlery, glasses, drinks, etc etc. They didn't clear away empty pre-dinner drink glasses until half way through the evening when we asked them to, despite piling all the glasses up on the end of the table. The waiters were overly familiar which although some people enjoy we most certainly do not. We felt the prices were way too much for the level of food and service we received. We will not be back.
I believe the pub has changed ownership recently. However you feel like you have walked into this owners living room. The welcome and ambiance is there from the most accommodating staff. It is an artform to bring to your customers a feeling of complete understanding...of your needs and that they will be met effortlessly The food was so delicious and the menu varied and interesting. We will definitely be back.

What a fantastic meal out. Excellent dining at reasonable prices. The staff could not have been more attentive and without asking, made a fuss of the birthday guest with a glass of bubbles and a candle lit dessert. Would highly recommend. Fabio and Leo made...the evening with their humour, knowledge and outstanding service.
recommend! A beautiful country pub with amazing staff who were so lovely to our two little pups. The food was so nice and you can tell everything is home cooked but at premium quality. Cheese soufflé was to die for. Lovely little heated terrace...which was great for dogs. Can’t wait to go back.
What a great experience from start to finish, an excellent menu with lots of choice, Sunday lunch, steaks, fish, vegetarian options. The food and service were impeccable as always, top service and all the staff have a friendly but professional approach. We’ll be back in...a few weeks for sure.
My visit to such a beautiful decorated cosy pub with a very warming welcome .My sons brought me for a birthday meal , so impressed by the friendly and extremely helpful staff .loved the menu , food delicious .Well worth a visit. Certainly be...back .

We called on the off chance and had a great lunch. The staff made our dog so welcome. Camembert tarte tatin was lovely as was the Brie& avocado open sandwich. Interesting building with nice decor. Already planning to return for dinner.
