Sister in-law had reserved 2 rooms for one night stay for myself and my husband on 3rd July 2019, received usual confirmation email informing checking in/out and serving meals times, etc. We arrived around 6.30 pm and spoke to a lady of the waiting staff to let her know we would be having an evening meal, she told us they didn 't have any tables after 7pm as they were expecting a large crowd of 30 people at 7pm, we were told we could eat but we had to order now, before 7pm as we hadn 't booked a table. We booked for 1night bed and breakfast arriving at 6pm at 6.20 went to have look at the menu only to be told unknown to us that we needed to book a table and the only times available as before 7 or after 8.30 both unsuitable. We booked this place as it had a restaurant. There was no mention of needing to book on there website. We asked to speak to the manager who came over to see and leant with his arms on the back of a chair in a very arrogant and aggressive manner. After telling him our problem he made no attempt to apologise or explain to situation or to provide a solution only to say he can cancel our booking and return the deposit. We were looking for a quiet being meal and a few drinks...
We stopped by this restaurant after a walk from Cider Mill Cottage, a place we rented for the weekend. The staff were very friendly and they all adored our young Labrador puppy, who had a great time. They even provided a water bowl for him without us having to ask. Dogs are allowed in the pub area of the establishment, and possibly in the outdoor seating area as well. Due to the windy weather, we chose to dine indoors. The wine and beer selection was impressive, and I thoroughly enjoyed the well-kept Abbot Ale. The restaurant itself looked charming, and we overheard several positive comments from other patrons as they paid their bills. Overall, it had a quaint, old-fashioned pub vibe.
I have been dining at The Lion multiple times this year and the food keeps improving each time! Last week, we tried their pie night with the steak and ale and chicken and wild mushroom pies, and they were truly the best we have ever had. The quality of the food is outstanding, offering high-end dishes at pub prices. You will not be disappointed dining here.

My husband and I enjoyed an evening meal here and were very impressed with both the quality of food and the friendly waitress who served us. Presentation and quality of food were very good at sensible prices. We will definitely be returning.
Family run, newly reopened, this pub is a real gem. A varied menu includes fabulous steaks and fish dishes. at sensible prices. Highly recommended Great food at sensible prices.
Having been recommended to us The Lion Inn and Restaurant did not disappoint.My wife and I checked in mid week for a one night stay on a dinner,bed and breakfast basis.
What a lovely meal we had ! Friendly staff very clean puddings delicious the Berry cider was great definitely be going back for another visit ..

Great Village Pub to have a drink or food two Bars with a big restaurant two log fires for them cold nights Child friendly and dog friendly also.
We had a table of 2 on a Wednesday evening the Crab Linguine, Burger and service were all faultless. Look forward to returning!
