Lovely little cafe in one of the small pedestrian squares that can often be found in the back alleys of Lancaster. Fairly small downstairs area supplemented by a balcony area upstairs. There were also tables and chairs outside which would be great on a more clement day than the one on which we visited! A good choice of teas and coffees from which to choose (we found the Americano very flavoursome). They do some cakes but the range was somewhat limited (and we saw none that caught our fancy. Attended in the afternoon and sat outside. My partner went in twice to request a menu to then be told on the second occasion there was 'no food left ' with no alternative. No staff member even approached our table to ask if we wanted a drink or to place an order and we were simply ignored despite the outdoor seating area being quiet and manageable (even though we were told to take a seat). We both got up and left to go to somewhere else. Was not a positive experience unfortunately despite this looking like such a lovely place.
Have been to this cafe before and always enjoyed the visit. Not this time. The female member of staff was extremely rude. I appreciate that the cafe had to close but to be told You have 8 minutes was a disgrace. I had took friends there who were visiting from the Channel Islands. I won 't ever be going back.
We stopped off here briefly for coffee when we were visiting family in Lancaster. Brilliant service, lovely surroundings and all very classily done. This is exactly the sort of small business we should all be supporting. Many thanks.

We were staying in the Landmark property above the cafe and so it was a great place to call in for a delicious coffee and sandwich. Quite small on a wet day but tables well spaced and staff helpful.
Nice cafe with a mezzanine area and a few outside tables. For real coffee aficionados. You can still sense some of the charm of the square as it might have looked a hundred years earlier.
Wonderful spot off the beaten track to come and enjoy a coffee and a delicious sandwich. Atkinsons coffee fab and a great little square to sit in if it’s sunny!
Little gem of a sunny spot with excellent coffee... fab tasty toasted sandwiches and sunflowers galore. Helpful welcoming staff in a quiet back street location.

Delicious coffee served ‘in bicchiere’ as in Trieste. Fabulous cakes and charming and efficient service in a beautiful location. Best on a warm dry day.
