The Old Castle is one of Bridgend's most popular pubs and is now open under new management. The new team are doing a brilliant job; restoring this pub into its' former glory. Visited yesterday for a late lunch with friends. Excellent food, all fresh and home-cooked. Surf and Turf (Steak and Scampi) served with real chips, peas, side salad and freshly made coleslaw that was to die for! My friends had Cod and chips which was the freshest, whitest, perfectly cooked fish in the crispiest batter. I will be ordering this on my next visit! Many people complain about the lack of good pubs in Bridgend but this is far from the truth. The Old Castle restores good old fashioned (with a modern twist) pub atmosphere. Yes the building in certainly inviting but the warm welcome and the ability to make the customer feel special is a dying art, both Geraint and Katie (and all staff) certainly make you feel that way. The Old Castle treats customers like family!!
First visit for a while, following a bad experience last year! Lovely welcome, from lady host, and from a fellow drinker at the bar. Warm fire, a lovely atmosphere. Could only have 2 drinks as booked in for a meal elsewhere. Will definitely return. Hopefully a return to the old days!
This pub got to be the worst place in Bridgend the bar lady is polite but her husband has a real attitude want last long in a family pub like that he tells me he is ex marine don’t think so because marines don’t brag about what they have done in life

Visited this lovely, well presented pub and i must say its a lovely run pub, staff are friendly, nice and quiet. Great to watch your favourite sport. Prices are great too. Cleanest toilets ive seen in bridgend will visit again

One of the best pubs in Bridgend, the staff are always cheerful and courteous. They are always ready to laugh and are never rude. 10/10 for customer service.
