We enjoyed lunch at this pub today on a beautiful day and chose to sit in the garden. It was our first outing with our new baby grandson, along with our daughters and son-in-law. The food was absolutely delightful and we couldn’t fault it at all. However, some of the staff could use a little training in customer service. The woman who brought our food was quite abrupt, and when my son-in-law went to pay, he was told, “We don’t take American Express,” in a way that could have been much more pleasant.
Went here for Sunday roast beef lunch after a previous vista in 2022 this time 2023 totally underwhelming 2 small pieces of beef of which a third was fat on both pieces, two roast potatoes, 1 Yorkshire pudding, small plate of veg shared for two £35.95, I don't think so try else where you will go home disappointed Price per person: £40–50 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
I visited the restaurant with my dad one evening while we were out for a walk. We only ordered cheesy chips, so I can't say much about the food, but the beer was excellent! It was bustling with locals, which created a lovely atmosphere. Price per person: £10–20. Food: 4/5. Service: 5/5. Atmosphere: 5/5.
Friday afternoon in sans reservation. cordial reception of cheerful employees. 6 real ales, 4 lagers, 2 more. my chewing gum had plastered and avocado sandwich, I had liver and speck. both very good, very good portions. really good experience. also felt appreciated as a customer. well done, ladies!

The best ploughmans lunch i have ever had the chutney was homemade and delicious and all the ingredients were first rate. A beautiful garden to sit in too in a most picturesque setting of Chidham! Fantastic walks all around too! Cant wait to go back highly recommend!
As for parking, there is some street parking available, as well as a nice small car park at the back, though be mindful of the tight turn! In terms of wheelchair accessibility, it seemed quite good, especially in the outdoor area.
