I have visited this restaurant twice now, just to see if the burnt, store-bought pie and missing items were just flukes. Unfortunately, the experience was not good. The portions were small and expensive, and the food was not tasty. We ended up getting a sharing plate, which was not enough to feed one person. It consisted of half a store-bought pork pie, half a ham sandwich with two slices of bread, two pieces of cheap cheese, a bit of salad, 6 mini cheddars, and a small tub of fake Branston pickle. It was not worth the money. I suggest going to the nearby Asda and getting similar items off the shelves for a fraction of the price, and you will get much more food.
I stopped by one day for a cup of tea and fell in love with the place, so I recommended it to my family as a lunch meeting spot. My mother's bill came to £5.80, so she handed over £10.80 only to receive £2 in change! Three members of our group ordered burgers, which appeared cooked but were actually raw and icy cold in the middle. We were able to get a refund for one of the burgers, but none of us felt comfortable eating our meal. When we informed the staff about the raw food, the chef in the kitchen was very upset. Sadly, we do not plan to return, and I have shared my experience with my coworkers who were eager to hear about my lunch outing.
It used to serve the best breakfasts around so thought I'd try the cafe now it had new management, wish I hadn't bothered. Was told there would be a bit of a wait as there were 3 orders before me,which is fair enough. When I finally got my breakfast 45 minutes later the toast was burnt ,bacon undercooked and nearly raw,smallest portion of beans,hash brown swimming in fat and half a cup of tea. I know they are new but that's no excuse .give this place a wide berth
Called here whilst out walking and needed a rest. Noticed the Leggers inn which I had heard of so was gonna go there but next door was this lovely cafe, nice seating area outside. We both had a sandwich and drink but the cafe also had a nice selection of cakes on offer. The owners were very friendly and we really enjoyed our little rest sat out in the sunshine. We visited the old stables cafe and had the dish of the day, meat and potatoe pie. It was great quality and freshly cooked. We were served by a very friendly lady and saw the two chefs in the kitchen working very hard. Great atmosphere and very pleasant spot by the canal. A lovely family run cafe with a menu covering breakfast and lunch.
My first visit with a friend for breakfast. The food was fine good value with a free refil of tea/coffee but the place was very small we were sat near the toilet door which gave off a very strong smell of cheap air freshener. I'm afraid I could taste it so couldn't eat my food.
