This was our first visit to paddock probably as a result of numerous bad reviews from friends. Having said that we were a group of 8 and we were invited to join a party of 8It is nice the see a local restaurant serving both local produce and drinks. I should confess that I am not too enthused about Mexican food which might have influenced my rating of this venue. I was a guest at the associated motel and did not have time to prepare for an evening out. I learned from publicity in the motel room that the Harvest Mexican had recently been created from a small disused lane. The brochure described it being a " laneway bar Mexican eatery with sustainable and ethical Australian food, craft beer, wine and liquers". It certainly had the atmosphere. We booked a table for four and we were the first people in the restaurant that evening. We had promised our son ribs and he was very excited. When ordering, we were told that they had already ran out of ribs (despite being the first people in the restaurant that evening) due to a large booking they had of 30 odd people. 30 odd people don't just book a table that day. They obviously knew that this group was arriving that evening at least a couple of days prior. Here's an idea.........order some more **** ribs!!!!!! Sat night- maybe 10 people all night. Entree was beet cured tuna (nice albeit small) and pork belly (average). Mains beef ribs and chips (ribs were nice) and 300g sirloin (asked for medium came back very rare) with chorizo mushrooms ( chorizo was verrry pale and not reccomendable). Drinks were nice but very pricey ($19 I think!) and they had a limited ingredient list. Had some alcoholic desserts (ok) then paid. Just an outstanding meal, beers and service. The recommendations from the bar were spot on, beer went great with the food. Had the brisket, was fantastic.Read some of the negative reviews, no idea what they were talking about. Was a first class experince. Wish we had one in Rocky.
The service is as good as the food. I travel around Australia a lot with work and to be honest, the steak doesn't get much better than it is at the Paddock.
Expectations far from met
I loved the concept of a little lane way beside the restaurant where you could indulge in either cheap eats, alcohol or both.

nice tasty full of flavour food - I like Mexican so I was impressed to find a good quality store in Cairns
Great steak, service and atmosphere. Wine was sensational. There's nothing I could fault.
