Firstly, I apologise for the delay in writing this review. My husband and I visited in September with some friends who live locally. The surroundings are quirky reminiscent of the and Lovely and clean, with a friendly welcome. We had lunch, which...was probably the best restaurant meal we have had in recent years. Service was great. of us had the lamb which was beautifully cooked with the usual trimmings. Importantly, the plates were hot. My husband remarked that it was like his mum had cooked the meal. (A great compliment, as she was a superb cook The other one of our party had the fish, and she said it was delicious. The portion sizes were great, and just about right. After a while, my husband decided upon a dessert a crumble which is his favourite. To our surprise the waitress brought out a very hot bowl, and then presented him with the crumble in a separate dish. The custard was in a jug. My husband said it too was delicious. All the while the service was friendly, but very professional. Many restaurants/pubs say Home Cooked Food', but I think they mean it is pre-packed and microwaved, or re-heated in the oven. In the case of the Parlour, they meant it. It was genuinely home cooked food and tasted all the better for it. I can thoroughly recommend this lovely venue, if you are ever in the Birchington/Minnis Bay area. It is delightful.
