Christmas meal on Christmas day. For a family of four to be placed on a small round table was an absolute joke to start with. After we complained, we were asked to move onto a different table. The starters were brought in quick time, which was a delight to see. We waited for the starter plates to be cleared away. The main meals came with over cooked parsnips, bearly able to cut through. There was no taste in the Brussel sprouts, probably frozen. The plates were overflowing with cabbage and gravey, and the turkey was processed off a roll. Christmas Day at The Plough was £60 per head .. we were a table of 5 Lots of issues Parsnips too hard to eat Cheeseboard no crackers or pickle just malt loaf celery and honey The Turkey was off a roll The veg was awful Throughout our entire meal a child screamed intermittently the whole way through. Went for lunch with a friend. A disaster. We waited 1hr 15 mins for our lunch to arrive, advised there had been a printer error the order had not been printed passed to the kitchen. My friend had to send her Hunters Chicken back it was overcooked/burnt. Another wait eventually a satisfactory Hunters Chicken. We were offered free sweets due to the issues which we accepted. When our empty dishes were collected the waiter said he would bring the bill, 15 mins later we had to ask to be told he had forgotten. The whole experience was one we will not repeat. Poor service, poor food, no ambience rude staff. I could not recommend.
The pub had a pleasant atmosphere in the bar area. It was very quiet as we were the only diners present. They provided high chairs, which was convenient, and even allowed our dog inside. The drinks and food arrived promptly, but unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. It tasted as if it had been reheated or cooked in the microwave. The burger was decent, but the curry and kids' meal were not enjoyable, so we ended up leaving them unfinished.
We reserved a table for Christmas Day lunch with my family and from the moment we made the reservation until we left the restaurant, we received excellent service. The restaurant was bustling and had a wonderful atmosphere. The food was delicious and the staff were exceptional. We will definitely be making a reservation for next year.
