For our appetizers, we ordered the calamari, torched oysters, and Bulkeley salad. The calamari was fantastic, served with a tasty dipping sauce and a generous portion. The salad featured a delightful apple ginger gastrique dressing, providing both flavor and crunch. The torched oysters were a treat, especially since I had never tried raw oysters before; it turned out to be a great decision. For our main courses, we had the seafood risotto, which was packed with generous portions of lobster, scallops, shrimp, and halibut—absolutely delicious! From the get go the host was very welcoming. I was seated by the oyster bar and might I say the best table in the house. The bartenders were attentive and didn't mind all my questions about oyster shucking. One of them was even showing me in steps and details on how to shuck an oyster, how to tell oyster's age, and the anatomy of it. It was an experience! When it comes to the food, I started with 3 freshly shucked oysters: lucky line PEI, Northern's Nova, and Pristine Bay. Since I know nothing of oysters, these were the bartender's top 3, and he delivered. What truly impressed us was the service. Even though it was an exceptionally busy night, the staff remained friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Our server, Mick, deserves special recognition; his drink recommendations, engaging conversation, and interesting insights about the history of the building and the area made our experience even more enjoyable. Mick treated us like friends rather than just customers—he truly was the best server we've ever had. We make it a point to try new places every time we dine out, a habit we've maintained for three years. However, The Press Gang may have changed that, as we plan to return again and again. Our server, Mick, was exceptionally knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations from the menu. He was friendly and contributed greatly to our overall experience. The food was truly outstanding. The oysters came with a variety of delightful accompaniments, the risotto was brimming with an assortment of seafood, and the seafood chowder was the highlight of the meal—definitely the best I had during my time in Nova Scotia. While the prices were slightly higher than at other restaurants, the superb quality of the food and the excellent service made it well worth it.

My group tried "The Drill," and it was easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The food was incredibly delicious, and the drinks were perfectly balanced. Our server was excellent, and everyone in our group had a fantastic experience. The price for a four-course meal was exceptional! I will definitely make this a must-visit whenever I'm in Halifax!
Beautiful interior and delicious food. The service was also very friendly. We ordered their unique the Drill , which is a 5 course dinner that changes daily. We got a variety of dishes such as mussel stuffed salmon, grilled scallops, duck, sorbet and much more. The dessert was way too sweet for us but everything else hit the spot.
