The Quarrymans Arms

We arrived at this charming pub after a day at Wincanton races at 5pm for just one night. The roads were quite narrow, but our SatNav helped us find our way. Parking was a bit tricky as the car park was full upon arrival, but we were able to find a spot on the road. The staff were fantastic and even offered us complimentary Prosecco, which was a nice touch. The room was lovely and the check-in process was smooth. On a good previous visit we booked to have an evening meal but was rather disappointed. The pub itself is sat in a lovely spot with gorgeous views but the interior felt somewhat grubby. The food was nice but when I changed my steak dish from having chips to having their very lacking and expensive side dish of broccoli it looked very poor. It also took some time for our food to arrive between starter and main. The staff did apologise for the wait and also offered something else to go with my steak but it would have only meant I’d have to wait longer and my steak would have been getting cold so I got on with what I was given. Nice pub in a great location with panoramic views across the county. It was very very warm inside and the staff were suffering with the heat as well as us as customers. This is a Butcombe pub and the menu seems common across other Butcombe premises. Our order for drinks and food was swiftly taken and they both soon arrived. The food was Ok, won't win any wards but it was good standard pub food. The value however was not great. Fish cakes were just that, a few sauteed spring onions, about a teaspoon and a bit of sauce and a poached egg for £16.50? I imagine any American visitors would be disappinrednwith the portion size! The gammon was Ok too, chips were ok, it was Ok! Won't be rushing back...

We had a huge (deluxe family) room downstairs with couch, desk small shower, our daughter had an ave sized (deluxe double) room upstairs with a huge shower. Nicely furnished, nice bedding, mini bar but no Nespresso machine. Plenty of off-street parking, electric car charger, good gastropub (no other food choice in walking distance). I would have given 5* but unfortunately we left our down pillows we travel with in brightly coloured pillowcases behind and they quickly noticed this but didn’t bother to phone us to let us know resulting in a 100 mile journey to collect it the next day- unnecessarily poor service. Hello, this is our favorite bar located just around the corner from us! We have been going there for so long that we can't even remember when we started. The staff can be a bit moody, but they always provide excellent service, especially at our table. On Wednesdays, they offer 25% off meal deals, which is a great deal. The place can get quite noisy sometimes, so it could benefit from some sound buffers on the ceiling like The Albert Hall, but on a smaller scale. We will be going there soon and are looking forward to it. It's a great meeting spot for our group of friends.

This is our favourite local pub/restaurant. It always has a great atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff and amazing food. Last night we rang at last minute and managed to get a table for three. We all had a lovely pint of Guinness, perfectly served. I had the plant burger, my son had ham, egg and chips and his partner the beef burger. All the food looked and smelt very appetising. All three dishes were well cooked and throughly enjoy. Really lovely typical English pub with a view to die for.

Bumped off our table in favour larger group We were party 5 celebrating a special birthday booked days before Less than 24hrs notice restaurant phoned to say we'd lost our table as they had larger party coming in we'd have to eat at the bar Not the place to celebrate special dinner with elderly group those with disabilities Unacceptable

Disappointing. Front of house unwelcoming and unaware of deals on butcombe website. Queries were met with the chef is very busy with a private event in 2 occasions, one being the broccoli and mozzarella dish had no mozzarella! Pavel and team are working hard to keep an important local pub alive. Rooms are good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful location.
