I gave this place 1 star review just because the door was open. Turned up Saturday morning there were 3 people sitting down eating. I asked for a bacon and egg sandwich and a tea to take away. The reply was 30 minutes to 45 minutes for a takeaway but it would be considerably quicker if I sat down to eat it. !!!! Errrr how does that work ? More staff than customers and using the excuse that they have a lot of online orders !!! YEP ! on a Saturday morning when most companies are closed for the weekend. This was my first visit to the Red Cafe but family members required to soak up a hangover so a visit with kids was in order. There were 7 of us in total and we struggled to get space. I was amazed by the size of the menu. It was way more extensive than most other cafe’s of this type and considerably better priced. I had the small breakfast which was very good value. My nephew had the chicken platter which comprised of 2 pieces of chicken, loads of chips and what looked like a 200g tub of coleslaw on it. All of that was just over a fiver. Ordered online via Just Eat food expected delivery over 1/30mins but delivered well before due. (Which is good service) Ordered Medium Breakfast and Cheese burger, the breakfast was missing beans and tomatoes but restaurant was due to close so unsure if they had ran out. Milkshakes very nice and Cheese burger but not keen on the chips nor some items from the breakfast but the hash browns were good. Overall bits missing and a tad overpriced for missing items, have had delivery before no issues.
I decided to try this restaurant and I was not let down. The portions were generous and definitely worth the price. The staff was polite and friendly, providing good service. My only suggestion would be to include an extra slice of toast with the big breakfast, but overall, it was nothing to complain about.

I occasionally stop by this café when I'm passing through the village. It's a charming little establishment that appears to be family-run. The sausages could use a bit more cooking time as they were brown on the outside but still uncooked or mushy in the middle. However, everything else was fantastic.
Definitely one of the best fish and chips around. We always get our fish, chips and pies from Red Cafe as the food is fantastic and we have also used their delivery service which was very fast and the food was hot and fresh. Can’t recommend this place enough and also lovely staff.
Excellent breakfast, always go for the 10 item for £8.50. Food always cooked well and you can’t go wrong with a proper cafe breakfast! Lady in there is always extremely friendly! Need to come here and try having a lunch.
I was in Higham Ferrers for a wedding and decided to take a morning walk to find a good breakfast. I stumbled upon a charming café with fantastic service and delicious food at affordable prices.

We always enjoy going to The Red Cafe but is it necessary to have so much bread roll around the bacon. Bacon is very plentiful but the roll is far to big and very lacking in spread on it .
