The Red Lion At Hawkshaw

A local pub to us, we enjoy going on a Friday night for a few drinks and a couple of cheese boards to start our weekend. Usually the cheeseboard is excellent value. Tonight we visited and ordered as usual. When the food arrived the difference between last weeks and this weeks was glaringly obvious. With just 2 small types of cheese, 5 crackers and 4 small pieces of celery for the grand price of nearly £10. Now we don’t mind paying good money, for good food, but this was daylight robbery. When we questioned it, we were told the menu had changed to the ‘autumn’ menu a few days ago and that was now basically what you got. My second stay here as visiting a friend who lives nearby. Twin room was very nice. Well stocked with tea, coffee, water and biscuits. Room cleaned spotlessly by pleasant lady who obviously enjoys her job and takes pride keeping the rooms cleaned to a high level.(Sorry forgot her name again! . Food is fresh and excellent and welcoming restaurant and bar. Highly recommend.

The food and service at this restaurant are top-notch. They are also very dog-friendly, providing a tasty meal and excellent value for money. The atmosphere is fabulous, with a friendly and accommodating manager and staff. Our dog was well taken care of with a dog bed, treats, and water bowls.

The staff at this restaurant is excellent and provides a friendly welcome. The room is comfortable, well-presented, and the food and service are also excellent. I would definitely stay here again. Well done to all!

Went for the 3 course lunch deal fantastic food and value. I had lamb scrumpets to start, sea bass for main and parkin for dessert all gorgeous the parkin was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.
