Unlike Weatherspoons, The Royal George is a much nicer place to visit. Although there’s a lot of sport on in the pub, the atmosphere remains great. We actually came for the food, which has recently been taken over by an excellent chef, Matt Young. We’ve been twice and enjoyed delicious meals both times. The roast dinner is absolutely to die for, with huge Yorkshire puddings and generous portions. We’ll definitely be returning and it will be a regular spot for us just for the food alone.
