The Royal Oak, Lewes

My friend Alan and I visited The Royal Oak a couple of times during our little break to Lewes. The weather was very warm on our first visit, so we were able to sit outside on the very charming and pretty terrace. On our next...visit, we sat inside the pub and enjoyed a very yummy gammon, egg and chips. Very delicious! On both visits, the staff were considerate, polite and friendly, excellent customer service. The landlord Mitch is an absolute superstar and it was really lovely chatting with him. Highly recommend a visit to the Royal Oak when you're in Lewes.

Lovely pub and staff really friendly however we went there for a meal and were disappointed that when they only offer main meals of them were sold out! ! Felt sorry for the young lad that served us as it was his first...shift and he looked really embarrassed. We went to order puddings and jokingly checked if they were all available, he said they were. We ordered Eton mess and he came back from the kitchen and said they had all gone! Food we had was lovely but having options available is not very good and they hadn’t been busy!

A lovely late lunch. Delicious food, perfectly cooked, well presented. Professional, friendly staff. The pub is contemporary but traditional at the same time. We visited three years ago and remembered it as a charming place.

Popped into the oak by chance when looking for a pub for a few drinks, very glad we did, friendly, warm and welcoming. Great evening. Many thanks.

Clean, friendly staff, non-sticky tables, lovely food drink choice vegan and vegetarian options, nice atmosphere!
