We had been to the first location of The Ruby a few times, which prompted us to return when they opened their second location.I rarely give 5 stars to a restaurant but today I did because the menu is diverse and different which appeals to the curious eater in me. And the service is top notch.Today I wanted something I'd never had and would never make at home. Waffles topped with crispy fried chicken, chicken gravy, fried egg, maple syrup and their homemade smoked relish. It was a super fun dish to try. Good flavors and great serving size. Hubby had the pulled chicken hash and was very happy with the flavors and portion size. What caught his eye about that dish were the nice sauces that were...

We ate at the restaurant on Douglas, the one inside the Hotel Zed reception building. We weren't really sure what to expect as it looked quite small and we could only see people drinking coffee when we walked in. We were so glad we chose to eat here. The breakfast was heavenly. Really beautifully cooked and a good sized portion.The coffee was strong with an excellent flavour. The choice of tea was limited, but they were happy to serve me hot water instead. Hotel residents can't add their food to their hotel bill because the restaurant is not part of the hotel, it's completely independent, just happens to share the same premises. I have not hesitation in recommending people to use this place.

Right beside the Best Western on Johnson St. Victoria BC...I had THE BEST vegetarian eggs benny...scrumptious...your choice of English muffin or croissant...I chose the croissant...soooooo good! The sauce was delicious....the hash browns hot and done perfectly. The next morning I tried their beef brisket hash and I prepared to stay for lunch to try it again on their lunch menu....you will not be disappointed folks. The staff were friendly and welcoming right as soon as you walk in the door. Steve(?Steven) ant the bar was very courteous and professional in his mixology...

First time to visit on a recommendation and was not disappointed. Went for a family brunch and want to go back! We did wait for @15 minutes, but, it was Sunday so popular time. I had never had beef brisket hash, so decided it was worth a try. This was so good I would order again and forfeit the rest of the delicious menu options. Melt in your mouth brisket, perfectly done hash potatoes and poached egg done your way. Service was very good - friendly and attentive. Great decor and convenient location.

Had a great solo breakfast here and decided I was bringing the whole family for Father's Day brunch. Service, attitude, music, and FOOD ALL excellent. The drinks are great as well (try the refreshing Paloma) Lots of very creative and delicious menu items. Picture below is the rotisserie chicken hash which was excellent AND my eggs were cooked exactly as I had requested Wish more establishments in Victoria had this leadership and passion. Can't wait to go back. Keep up the great work!

We came here twice for breakfast and it was worth it. The records for the music add a touch long forgotten. And the food ....... Brisket and waffles or fried chicken and waffles. Both delicious and worth coming back for!Get in quick as this place will become popular with long lines on the weekend.

Just opened in March still a fairly unappreciated addition to the downtown breakfast/ lunch scene!No wait, nice clean new decor open design smartly done. Serve Discovery coffee and Silk Road teas.Great choices, but menu not overwhelming ! good food, fresh sourced locally!!Can't wait to go back!

The Ruby on Johnson won't be quiet for long, the room's formula makes complete sense on lower Johnson. Some of the best brisket/rotisserie chicken in Victoria. Great options for breakfast and lunch, and some of the best service staff in the city. Prost!

Stopped by on a Sunday morning. We were early enough so had no lineup. Great meal, excellent value. Four in our party and all enjoyed our meals. Stop by you will enjoy.

This little restaurant was open a little later. The food was good and the restaurant clean. The service was very good.
