We took my Mum (a regular visitor to The Ship Caton) for an early Mothers Day lunch on 2nd March 2024. It was my second visit and I have to say it did not disappoint. The gentleman Proprietor was extremely attentive, polite, kind and could not do enough for us. He also took time to talk with us and make us feel very much at ease and comfortable. The food was and absolutely delicious. I would 100% recommend this lovely Lancashire pub/eatery to anyone looking for somewhere that has it all , a welcoming atmosphere, great hosting and unbelievably great fayre. Well done to the chef and staff at this friendly local pub in Caton, for organising a wonderful Supper Club event. A seven course tasting menu with wine flight was served by friendly staff, and the chef was keen to interact with customers after service to gain feedback and meet everyone. This team understand that hospitality is about people, and they were all kind and welcoming. The chef is ambitious and unafraid to try things and I applaud this approach. When many pubs are simply reverting to short order dishes for ease and convenience, this team are daring to be different, and should be supported. Excellent cocktails, and attention to detail from the bar staff was much appreciated.
we went on a cold Saturday midday looking for a warm hearty meal. the staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was really delicious. the chef came to talk to me to review the allergens in the food and to accommodate adjustments. for a starter I had black pudding and bubbly black without the ice creamy sauce, but had a sweet chili sauce that was delicious and a perfect alternative soße. for the main course I had cumberland sausage with chips instead of maische, which was really delicious. we had no place for puddings, because the portions were generous. I will come back soon and would definitely recommend it for the food, atmosphere and ales.
Had a Sunday dinner here and it was amazeballs. All three courses were brilliant from start to finish. Starter was the owner's own creation and was lovely. Lamb melted in your mouth. My husband loved the smoked carrot puree that was on the plate along with the meat, yorkie and roasters. Both enjoyed our desserts. My husband's ice cream was proper vanilla bean and my creme brulee had a superb cracking caramelised top to it. Would definitely eat here again.

Absolutely brilliant place to eat. The food was excellent, superb quality, wonderful array of well combined flavours and beautifully cooked. The atmosphere was very friendly, great music that wasn’t intrusive and the general ambience just perfect. We stumbled across it after a lovely drive through the Trough of Bowland. I would highly recommend.
Service was really friendly and fast. My chip butty was incredibly good, and the half of bitter I had was perfect. Great place for a pit stop, before getting back on the M6, nice roaring fire. It was so remarkably good that I decided to open a Trip Advisor account to leave a review. Really impressed. I'd drive to Lancashire for another butty.
Menu was perfect the best of Gastro Pub and I honestly struggled to pick one dish! We will be back very soon to try the rest of the fantastic menu. Service fab, atmosphere friendly, Reasonably priced for the quality
We ate in the bar as we had dogs with us, there is a restaurant too Food was tasty and filling. The staff were so friendly, we will be back as pass regularly.
