Have been to the Ship several times before and its very much my go to place for food in Rainhill. You're made to feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door and normally I've been served by either Tracy or Vicky who are always so helpful! They can be quite busy but there's usually a quick turnaround on food and in my experience no drop in quality. There is always a nice atmosphere and you feel very comfortable going in either by yourself, with family or for business meetings. I came here on Thursday afternoon with my brother and his family, I come here often, usually with my wife, as The Ship is undoubtedly one of my favourite haunts. This is the third or fourth time I have brought my brother and his family here he now loves The Ship too! Today, Vicky Lauren were front of house; we don't know who was in the kitchen of course. When we came in I was greeted very warmly and genuinely by Vicky who showed me to my table where the family was waiting already, we were seated by the fire near the front of the pub. Absolutely awful service from the start. It was my daughters birthday so there was 8 adults and 3 children. It was a busy night but that is no excuse for terrible customer service. I ordered a medium rare steak but it was well done. I complained and was told it was medium rare! No apologies at all and then waited a further 20 minutes for my meal when the rest of our group had finished. I will never go back here or ever recommend here to anyone I’ve worked in hospitality for years and this was unacceptable I was also accused of swearing at a young lad who was serving!!!
Myself and a group of friends who had been running/walking went to the Ship Inn today. There were 10 of us, so a fairly large party and we hadnt booked in advance but the staff couldnt have done more to help us. They made sure we could all sit together, took our orders so we could eat at the same time etc. The food was fresh, hot and delicious and the portion sizes very generous!! They were so friendly and welcoming, we will definitely be back and would wholly recommend this place!! 10/10

Called in for a couple after a long day in work. Started to feel peckish so ordered the beer battered mushrooms, have to say they are the best I’ve had for a long time. Service was quick, place was warm and the staff friendly and welcoming. Will be back for more soon
We booked online which was easy and all ordered the roast dinner which arrived very fast and was was really tasty. All quite fresh and not over cooked. Barman and lady serving the food were smiley and friendly. Overall a pleasant visit and would recommend.
Called in for a traditional Sunday roast. Not had one for ages. Both myself and partner thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was great and sat by a real fire on a cold day was brilliant. Levi behind the bar was superb. Definitely be back.
Awesome pub! Huge shoutout to Chef Matt for the amazing food. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. Plenty of parking space and a perfect location. They are also dog-friendly with a fantastic atmosphere.

We had a lovely Christmas Dinner the food was good,the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the staff were efficient and full of Christmas cheer.
Drop in to the ship for a pint lovely warm reception from Vicky and the girls keep up the good work.
