Skip Trader Vic's in downtown Atlanta, and make the short drive out to Decatur to SOS Tiki Bar! This place is legit! A few things to know: First, it is small. Second, it is popular. So get there right after they open, or you'll be waiting at a table outside for a while. Third, parking can be tricky in the nearby paid lots on a Friday or Saturday night. Tiki tiki. S.O.S. is a fun tiki bar tucked away in a little alley next to Victory. They actually connect through the back as well. Because this is a tiki bar, most of the drinks contain rum, and lots of sugar. So don’t expect amazing classic cocktails here. You can go to Victory for that. I LOVE the holiday themed tiki drinks. This is when I’m most likely to go. It’s very festive and fun. They also have movie themed food, which is questionable, but kind of neat. Atmosphere 9.5/10 This is how a proper Tiki Bar should look like! Great attention to design and details and a lot of Tiki elements including neon signs. Great atmosphere with inside and outside seating area. Also impressive back bar. Drinks 7.5/10 Nice and creative menu with plenty signature drinks. They also offer bucket size drinks for a group tiki experience. The variety of cocktails is a bit limited (also due to bar's theme) and the cocktails I tried were a bit too sweet even though they were recommended as the lest sweet ones. Service was decent- it WAS crowded on a Saturday night. Fresh tropical flowers are a very nice touch- aesthetically speaking. A very fun, trendy, creative tiki bar easily accessible to everything in Decatur. Prices were quite reasonable, especially given the specialization. Service team was attentive and engaging. The menu writing made me want to try almost all of the drinks: simple, unique, intriguing.
Nice little place to get a before or after dinner drink(they only serve snacks to eat) They have a bit of a wait and limited seating. Our server was very nice and helpful with explaining their drinks which most are island themed. Good place to check out but bring some patience.
Delightful experience! S.O.S. is not heavy on the effects and decor, but this is a legit tiki bar with great cocktails. Mixologist Heather is on point, whether creating one of her own originals, or a classic you already know well. I will definitely be back when I'm in Atlanta!
